Should 'necroing' be banned?

Some people always seem to hate it when people 'necro' old threads. Others don't mind it, sometimes they encourage it. I know where I sit but what do you think? If you post could you please state why you think it should be banned (or not).

Oh, and if you don't know necroing is commenting on old, dead threads.

No. Necroing revives dead debates or discussions rather than starting a new one which does reduce thread count but it also allows for old comments and opinions to be read instead of reposted on a new thread

I clicked the link without reading it, but thinking it was a link to another thread where there was some running joke going on.

 

If someone is necroing for a good reason, such as bringing an old topic back that recently became relevant again, then I'd say go for it. I do, however, dislike people who necro for the sole purpose of being immature. Such as necroing an old introduction for no reason. I don't necessarily think it should be banned because the rules can't really pick out who is necroing for a reason and who is necroing just to be immature.

 

Intros should auto-delete after not having new posts for a while

 

If it's to revive previously-discussed topics that are relevant again instead of making new threads, then it's fine. However, posting on old threads that are no longer relevant at all is just annoying.

As for necroing, let it stay allowed. There's times where people will revive funny or old threads and they return to give me another laugh. Besides, if an old but boring thread is necroed, it does nothing but die out again.

 

Hahah unfortunately I am not quick witted enough to construct such an elaborate pun.

 

I feel that necros of things like any discussion, debate, etc, thread that people actually talk on is fine.
An already resolved Q&A thread shouldn't be necro'd again unless the player has a question relating to that existing thread.
