Generally advertisments of commands in chat

Not complaining. I know a time will come when even this amount is trivial, so please do not go off on amounts and their meaning. So that this doesn't happen to me again, I'll move all credits to an alt on a regular basis. I'll always hate that I lost all my money at this stage and annoyed that it is gone, but such is life.

Commands are advertised in global chat. As far as I know even /gtoggle doesn't disable them.

I saw an advertisement that pwarp can create a public warp. I used pwarp help and created a warp.

Extremely shocked to see it took nearly every cent I'd built up from my time on the server. All the time spent being in the correct job and weighing if I should switch job and lose level bonus, or give up those earnings to keep bonus in current job.

A mod told me there was a price argument for the pwarp command. Because I'm new, I'd not been aware I should even use a prices argument.

All that aside, I'd like to see the public advertisements modified for those commands that cost. I think it reasonable to make this change to at least warn players and prevent fostering a feeling that trying new stuff might be too costly.

Well lets see what comes up when you type /pwarp help.

As you can see there are many options to choose from, one of them being /pwarp prices.
When you do /pwarp prices you can see the following:

The "Lets see" seems derogatory and I do not feel justified. You repeated what I had already stated and screen shot of help did not add to this post. It seemed more in line with the negative aspect of most of your post. I'd already mentioned a mod told me about the price option. I know to look for it in the future.

I can agree that longer alert messages might be annoying. We'll have to disagree if this and other messages like it might be improved by adding a warning of cost.

Seasoned players probably know of the command and don't need an advertisement. This leads me to believe the intent is to let new players know of the command. The key part of that is "new". This means 30K is likely to be a large part of what they've earned in the game.

This is a good situation to use /modreq or /g. If you are curious about prices, just ask! There is no harm in doing so. For future reference, shoot a question to the server or ask a staff member for help. Then this sort of thing can be avoided.

 

I mean, it's pretty common sense that something as convenient as a pwarp would cost something, and in /pwarp help it's right there, and it's pretty easy to see. It's not at all hidden from you. I think this came from a lack of paying attention more than anything.

As for making advertisements longer, they really can't. You can't put up things longer than what you can when just typing in a chat box. Your resources are pretty limited here, not to mention the fact that the prices are way out in the open when you do /pwarp help - it's not really needed.

He doesn't have to 'justify' you in any sense, lol. He's showing you how easy it is to see the prices, it's 1 command along with the rest. He's fully constructive there. Calm.

To be fair the /pwarp price is in a stupid area(in the /pwarp help area). Should be at top so it's first thing you see.

 

I love love love Deljikho's approach here. Although he did not have to do this, it was kind of him.

Also, if he was mistaken in the command he issued, maybe a staff member could check his commands and inform him of where he mistyped or figure out what went wrong?

I do have to say, /pwarp help should not, and in my opinion would not, have created a pwarp, but maybe there was just a mistake. I just don't agree with more MeepCraft update/announcement spam unless it is necessary.

Thank you TheSlayerKiller for the kind offer. I'd used a temporary name like tmpTestWarp, and when I saw the credit charge, immediately deleted it. I felt immediate deletion was was my best hope for any chance of being reimbursed for the warp, assuming mods had that discretion. Very generous offer and nice of you to make it. I'm ok with the lost money.

My recommendation above was only to make the server a better place.

 

So if you change your mind and want a refund I will be glad to give it to you.

I spent the day jotting down (MeepCraft) messages. PWARP was the only message encountered that could ruin a new players balance if they didn't read all documentation before proceeding. Because this is geared at new players, I request we modify text by adding "and cost" at the end so that it becomes:
(MeepCraft) Want to set a public warp? Type /pwarp to get info about personal warps and cost.

I did not see any other that I'd recommend changing. Following are info msgs I saw during the day:

The message is fine as is. Andrewrobins has the superior solution: show the costs up front when you type /pwarp or /pwarp help.

 

the message in /g would be fine if when you went to buy a pwarp, it prompted you with a message like "warning! this player-warp will cost you 30000 meebles and has a daily upkeep of 300 meebles! type /pwarp confirm if you want to continue!"

I'm not sure if this happens for when you do /t new as well, but that would be really helpful. it's just like how we can't buy something from the shop without putting in a maxprice so we know what it costs.
