There are quite a few reasons people do not use the /tr chat to sell and buy stuff. But the most common one I hear of is "I turned it off because of the spam"

And I can see why, not pointing out "who" but there are people that like to spam the /tr chat with repeated advertisements about every 10 seconds or so, even more frequent at times. Specially when multiple people are advertising the same thing /pwarp. *cough* Jeff *cough* Man I seem to have something stuck in my throat.

Anyways I am suggesting that the /tr has a 1-5 minute cooldown. Use that to enforce the rule, but it would also help it not be a wall of text all the time.

This seems fairly easy to implement no?

Yes, please. People use /tr mainly for advertising, but I see an ad every 15 seconds or so. It's ridiculous.

A minute is... quite long. And I think you underestimate how jeff works.

    like 20 seconds. Maybe.
Or hell, add the 'too many shouts' thing to /tr.

What Jeff? Nobody mentioned any Jeffs. Maybe a Margaret or George was mentioned unknowingly. But no Jeffs.

Anyways if you think about it, a minute is not too long. That's about the time required for your message to not show up in the chat box after scrolling up any more. And the problem with the too many shouts thing is, 100 meebles is hardly a fee.

For example, I have over 5 million, 100 meebles would be like comparing a raindrop to a lake.

And much more so with the more wealthy people.

Except on busy days, where it can take less than 10 seconds.

That is true, but wouldnt you think that it is taking 10 seconds because of the level of spam in the first place?

Not really no, even with /tr toggled off it can still go that fast
If jeff really wanted, he could have at least a half dozen people advertising for him at any given time, fully legal.
Adding this would barely, if at all help, and just irritate other users.

Wait a minute, is that legal? Would that not fall under inciting spam?

No, inciting spam would be ''Say 123 if you like pie'' or something like that.

Ha ha, not to get off-topic, but Jeff has an evil underground empire that hires slaves to advertise for him!

Wouldn't getting people to constantly bombard the chat with advertisements of his be the same thing as that?

    Not really.
Inciting spam would be saying or doing something that causes spam.

If 5 different people are advertising 5 different things, as long as each person is waiting the correct amount of chat to pass, it would be legal.

I don't think there should be a cooldown. If you ever would like to get rid of the spam, /ttoggle is there :)

Yes, but that mindset is what leads to so many people not using /tr to advertise in the first place and them subsequently getting into trouble for advertising in /g.

This is a pretty good idea! to compare situations, if this happened in global chat it would be like 10 different people saying variations of "what's up" at once. this doesn't happen too often in global because conversations just don't go like that, lol.

I think a 5 (could be 3) second break in between each /tr message (the break is not exclusive to only the person who posted; but to everyone) would be really effective because not only would there be less spam, but you would be able to read+ recognise (which leads to remembering; a big pro to using /tr because more people will go to your shop) each one. if multiple people posted at once there could be a queue for their message (kinda like how auctions work in skyblock), although that might not be possible to code. regardless, this would be really nice to have.

Only problem with the queueing is how long will the queue be? I mean, could you queue all 20 spots and then just corner the market?

Thats why I think my idea of a 1 minute cooldown would work just fine.

1 minute is plenty of time.

I don't agree with /tr being spam. And a cooldown would also block other chats in /tr that are not ads. Maybe there could be more clear rules on advertisement but not an actual cooldown just a rule.

No, it would be so that you could have one queued message, then when it's over you can put another one in.

all chats in /tr have to be some kind of selling/buying related message (advertisement). but yeah, the rules for advertising should be more clear.
