Removing "Count to xxx before xxx" threads.

They are very boring, unoriginal, and add nothing to the forums. They add unnecessarily spam to the forums, and are usually shameless and soulless ways for people to boost their post count.

Come on, there have been like 9 of these. And no, counting is not a game.

 

They also take up space on the "recent threads" section.

Tbh it would be quite funny if the OP deleted the thread when it got to post 2013 of the hopeful 2016.

 

Well, on Sunday every thread was locked down for like 10 mins.. I think all of us freaked about that.

 

Plus I'm fairly sure there is interest in this thread seen as it has taken over 1500 posts and taken over 3x that in views.

If there is interest there is enjoyment.

I think your insight on this post is extremely biased. Why would you want to delete spam? Your entire signature is spam!

If the thread is interesting to people, so let it be. There's no reason to delete it if people find it enjoyable. If there is, debate threads and just about any other thread not relating to the server might as well have a reason not to take up that space. Plus, how is a simple "no" biased? I don't get it.

These count to xxx before xxx threads are the definition of spam. These threads are kept on the front page for months at a time, and unlike other threads, this thread holds no information. Remember, literature, and to an extension these forums, are the exchange of ideas. These count to xxx before xxx threads exchange no ideas or anything.

If counting is your form of entertainment, do your math homework.

 

It's only really considered spam if it is consistently posted repeatedly in an area until it's actually annoying, in which this case, it's really not.

It's not so much for the counting as it is for the sense of achievement. Yes, it's not supposed to be some huge thing, but it can feel like a small achievement because you actually put work into doing it, although it's not that significant. Why do you have a problem with this, anyway? By definition, if this annoys you, a lot of other little things like memes and saying like "deez nuts" would too. Chill a bit. soften a little.

 

By your logic, we should feel achievement by doing taxes! We are helping our community bit by bit! Yay!

And yes, I have written this thread because the only thread I see on the top of the list in discussion is that darned thing.

Dude, just calm down. You're making a big deal about a type of thread on the forums of a minecraft server. Don't you have something better to do with your life? Like Andrew said; there's a crapton of people posting on these threads, trying to count to xxx before xxx. There's obviously some sort of enjoyment behind it.

I personally do not find them fun, but it is not as if the mere presence of these threads completely takes away from my enjoyment of the forums, nor should it take from yours.

 

If you don't like it, ignore the thread. I don't care if it takes up the "Recent Threads" section, just ignore it. Not that hard.

Hard to ignore the threads when they spam up recent threads, at LEAST take them off that.

I am still going to argue and complain about that this stupid thing gives me a headache. Literally, I have trouble reading sometimes, and this thing hurts.

 

I'd think it might be a better idea to remove all threads in the Forums Games section from the front page.

 

My opinion clearly won't count, but,

1. I rarely see the Count to 2016 before 2016 thread "taking up space" on recent threads section (if so, please explain why this is important),

2. Guess what. Anyone can participate in these, so it is not giving you an advantage over other people.

3. Rather than getting rid of all of them, get rid of only the ones not being used. As far as I know, the Count to 2016 before 2016 thread is more active than a few others I have seen.

Mind your own business. Let people have what signature they want. There is no rule saying people can't have bright-colored symbols and lots of text.

your first sentence is an opinion. They add, like I said up there, barely half an inch to the screen. Second part is also an opinion, Last sentence is also an opinion. See the problem here?

 

These threads are meant to get as many posts as possible. Threads with recent posts show up on the "recent threads" section. This is important because the counting threads are taking up space that could be filled by threads that are meaningful in one way or another, not just a string of people counting up numbers like a kindergarten class.
