Let's fix meep

Here is how I think we could fix meepcraft

First we must figure out our problems:
*Lots of rankism, I have spent the last 2 days on my unranked alt, and I have been called trash, I msged people to buy things but they don't respond back, because cits are to "poor"

*New players don't look at tutorial, I will see the little "welcome xX_rekt_Xx to meepcraft" in chat, I will warp tutorial only to see the person sprint right through everything EVERYTHING, then be at spawn and say "I'm new what do we do here" or "I want admin I'm from planet mc"

*To much unneeded plugins, from that book shelf thing, to kill streak counters. Not everything needs to be custom and these cost money. Whether you wanna face it or not, Meep is a business and like all business's they need to make money. With all the money on plugins and little coming in from ranks, we are loosing money.

*Lacking popular game modes, while you don't want to copy everyone, having a better kitpvp or hg might be a good idea, someone mentioned prison, how they explained it sounded like the coolest thing.

*Not proper advertisements. Pretty self explanatory

How do we address these issues:

(Rankism) This can be harder, but really do just try and help citizens, or at least not ignore them, a citizen will ask like, how do I get to my home? People will either ignore it or say, we have /modreq for a reason. When all you needed to do was literally "/g do /home "

(Tutorial) Lets face it Minecraft use to back in 2012 when meepcraft was the biggest server, older people played MC. But now 10 year olds and below play it to. So we need to make a less lengthy tutorial, 4 sections and a 25 page book, is to long. We need to have a funny, fun, and interactive tutorial that is short.

(Plugins) The amount of time we spend making a custom plugin and money is really bad. For example HG you should find a base HG plugin then edit it. Also NO ONE needs that bookshelf plugin. We need to spend less money on small plugins, so that meep can make more profit or have money towards something else.

(Game modes) While halo infected and boomo are amazing games, they rely on having a large active community to really be good, something we are trying to get so while meepcraft grows we need more independent game modes, like a prison. Those are really fun and I think meepcraft could really do a good one. Also Improve kit, lets face it, it really is bad, from horrible anti cheat to very dry kits, or trash kits.

(Advertising) This is by far the most important thing, we only advertise on small channels or server lists which are pointless unless you are top 10. We did do pretson playz once, but he a much younger audience that plays factions. We need someone like captainsparklez or has an older audience and does more thought parts of Minecraft. This would hopefully get us an older more patient and mature community. Also channels like bluapol or bloopers have potential but don't use it right, First off bluapol's channel is SO unprofessional, my small channel is more professional, we can see his subs, likes and other things, he should also join a network, one that does channel spotlights so they can see meep gameplay. We need to have more medias, cause they are free advertisement,

Extra things and stuff to mention:

Fuzzlr needs to speak to us and have a good time. He is always afk or doesn't speak, while I get it he is busy, he needs to interact with us.

Staff team, we need a more active and in charge team. There will be 10 modreqs and 1 staff member sometimes. Sometimes there are no staff online.

Better kit anti cheat. Get anti aura or speak to someone like me that knows how hacked clients work so we can really know were our weak spots are. Anti aura makes ff ka tb and ma really hard to work, its puts 3 invisible entities around you that don't interfere with your hits unless you are using a client with modified range, your hits are like 3.1 blocks long, ka is about 3.6 blocks long and can be raised up to 7 blocks, so these entities are about 3.5 blocks in front of you.

Sky block, is great but we need more players in it, the custom islands and shop are really nice, we should add a pvp arena.

Spawn, oh age old enemy spawn. We need a smaller spawn I think that anyone who has played meep can agree that the 2012-2013 spawn was the BEST one, if we could get a spawn like that but modified to have all the game warps, airship and other small things along with more detail, spawn would be golden.

Towny: We need to remove beta, or something, people have been suggesting this, Towny just seemed to die out. Plus new players if they figure out how to join a town might not understand there is a alpha and beta

OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM: So really its Minecraft has become a game played by younger people. They join meep and just do some arcade games and jump into pvp, until you join a town you cant get the full meepcraft experience. Since the kids are younger getting into a town and keeping money in your balance to not be kicked is just to confusing. We NEED to make a place were MAJOR towny info is, like tax, /t spawn alpha or beta, and so on..


That is how I think we could try and improve meep, also recommend meepcraft to your friends

All good, All good, but too much time has been invested in beta to remove it, half the players of meep would be outraged by the removal of beta, and I'd leave, and* all my work would be gone.

*That auto corrected to an odd 3 lettered word for some reason. Maybe invest the savings into fixing the sites comment/post/reply creating features.

This is a very great post! The one disagreement I have is that Beta shouldn't be removed. Maybe in this "new tutorial", the difference between Alpha and Beta should be explained.

I also completely agree with the rankist thing. I don't see why ranked people look down on Citizens; we're just as great as them. I find it funny when people ask me why I'm so wealthy... like... do they think that "all Citizens are poor"?

If any towny server to be removed it would most definitely be alpha.

 

I've never seen a citizen question unanswered tbh. Pretty much every time someone asks a question, atleast 3 people answer it. The only questions left unanswered are ones people don't know answers to, like price checks of strangely enchanted armor/tools or heads.

We just revamped /help to be more user friendly, and as stated before, people ask for help in global. not to be "ageist" but i literally don't care if a 10 y/o cant figure out how to properly ask for help and use the resources in front of them, it isn't our job to babysit every new player or simplify everything to their level.

We haven't touched that bookshelf plugin in ages, so it isn't costing us any money. Maintenance is what costs money, but it's only necessary on big plugins. For smaller plugins, once the maintenance exceeds the value of it on the server, we get rid of it (ex: pets).

Adding prison won't fix anything, or be worth the effort honestly as so many other servers already have it and it's not even that great. As for kit, y'all will literally never be happy with it. Like your points are almost always valid, but it's something that pretty much always needs constant updating for.

In the fall we had a push for advertisements that ended up costing more than they were worth. We saw an increase of players, but not enough to justify the cost of it. The voting sites where you find meep have helped a lot in bringing in new players, but it still isn't enough. I don't believe we need more medias, as a media's job is essentially to create trailers and promotional videos, but what we need are more community videos filling up the minecraft youtube search. Record yourself playing meep if you want to help us out! If your videos are consistent and quality, then you'll get media easily, but getting media shouldn't be your sole motivator for creating videos.

Took me a while to understand the whole towny alpha and beta system, once i got the hang of it there was no problem. Honestly we shouldn't remove alpha or beta. Most people play in beta, some in both alpha and beta and a good amount in alpha aswell as beta even though beta is more popular. Remove either one and then you have a problem.

To be honest, i really don't see rankism anymore. Most people with ranks literally try their best to help citizens and let them have a good time.

I don't know anyone that looks down on Citizens.

I've been on my brother's account when he was a citizen and had the same amount of attention as everyone else. (of course now he is a premium) Rankism isn't a thing, it's a hell of a lot worse on other servers. On other servers, people don't even invite you to their town because you are a no-rankie.

People need to stop saying this, because IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.

Tutorial and Plugins are a huge +1
Bookshelves and sitting on chairs are the most useless plugins to have ever exist on this server. That is basically just scratching the surface of the rest.

Gamemodes = +/-
I like the idea of independent gamemodes, we need to fix the others before we get ahead of ourselves here.

Actually, not a bad post so... +1 in general with some +/- in between.

 

Never seen this issue nor have I ever seen a citizen question ignored by us players in /g.

Explain by "funny, fun, and interactive tutorial". The tutorial is specifically designed to show the new player what this server offers to them, not an interactive tutorial where they know nothing about us.

I agree with this one because of all the money wasted on pointless plugins. Just stay simple, like how we did in 2012. We're getting too complex with things, like the spawn. There was no need to spend cash on a spawn that's just filled with quartz.

The mini-games have been down for so long because of issues. They're still being worked on. We could add Skywars, or Colonies CTF from 2012.
Don't mention Prison, we'll turn into one of those servers where you have to donate to even be good at Prison, or have good gear to defend yourself.
Kit is doing perfectly fine, I don't find the kits trashy. The only one I find very trashy now is the class that used to have fire on its sword (please remind me which kit, I can't remember.)

I like this except one thing: You're trashing Bluapol's channel and you want us to subscribe to yours because its "more professional". Just shut up about your channel, this isn't about you. Bluapol and Bloopers spend time on their videos while you copy their styles, then you say they are too "unprofessional".
That's the main reason why I dislike you: you talk about yourself too much.

It's the fact that Citizens being poor is now a stereotype on this server, just from my point of view. Rankism isn't like "oh no citizens are being looked down, we are horrible people". It's so much more worse on other servers.
I'll use Prison as an example for this. Since most prison servers make you donate money to even be a good player on their server, the ones who don't pay anything are destroyed by the higher classes, which have greater gear and know what they're doing. They're farmed for money and any items they have, and can't even play the game without paying a dime to be good.
If you call rankism here bad, oh just go onto the prison servers.

 

I agree with a lot of the things youve said.

• As an older player, I have definitely noticed the shift in demographic to much younger players - this may in part be due to the decrease in the economic/towny aspect and the increase in focus on minigames
• I agree we definitely need to take more responsibility as players to promote the server and assist new players to find things and to get a start in Towns
• Bookshelf plugin? Where you can keep books in a bookshelf? I actually use this, but I wouldnt have cared if we never had it - but we do, so no point throwing it away - I assume your point is to stop buying things like that? Perhaps having competitions for users to design their own plugins would help in 2 ways, first by saving the money spent and second by encouraging people to put in to the server and perhaps aspire to be meep techs themselves
• Speaking only for myself - I have never liked Beta, and I would suggest it be scrapped/subsumed by Alpha TOMORROW. I do not see the point in two identical Towny worlds. At all.
• The Tutorial and association the the rules on Forums could definitely be re-jigged - its a personal bugbear to see 12 year old wannabe lawyers try to argue around the rules. If the exact rule is not stated, they think its carte blanche to evade or circumvent the implications - far better to promote good citizenry, state at the outset that ignorance is NOT an excuse and there will be consequences for both deliberate and accidental rule breaking. The consequences dont have to be harsh but they have to be enforced
• Which leads me to staff. We need to endorse Helpers from Day One to MODERATE!! If you see bad behaviour, immediately balance whether it is banter and be prepared to act if it is not. Even banter can go on too long - as a moderator/host of both all-ages and adult chat rooms for years, I can assure you that there will always be one lurker just waiting for an opportunity to go too far. Teach our Helpers (and all staff) how to recognise when banter is leading towards inappropriate activity. Its not just children (and yes, I'm sorry, I will draw the line here - if you're under 16, you're a child) who we need to avoid seeing inappropriate behaviour - I'm not a huge fan of it either. TO Fuzzlr: Imagine you were selling meep every day and the people you're selling it to might come online at any time. Keep Chat Appropriate. Its pretty simple. If you want to carry on a little further, take it to /msg or a private TS channel. Perhaps introduce private channels for chat to meep (as chat servers have - they require zero moderation except by their owners). I would also suggest that staff that want to just play for a while and not moderate, take off their staff hat and not have blue text while just playing. When moderating, just moderate. Helping is ridiculous, by and large. I could go on and on about staff but I believe it suffices to say - we can do better. No, I'm not volunteering, so feel free to disregard this entire dot point if you like.
• You say to stop spending money on plugins but next paragraph you suggest spending money on minigames. Just an opinion, but maybe we need to spend money on some help for dblosevn. That is a HUGE job for one person.
  
• Advertising. This is probably not what you were expecting but it has occurred to me that we could have occasional advertising appear in chat (and maybe lessen the meep advertising - we are already on meep, stop beating us over the head). By this I mean like maybe once every five minutes "Drink CocaCola" (or whatever advertisers were appropriate and would invest) - this comes back to keeping chat appropriate though. That would be money coming in to pay tech staff and for improvements to the server. Just an idea I thought I'd tack on at the end of this saga.
  
  As always - maybe 1/3 of the things I say are a good idea - its up to you to decide which 1/3

Ok daym that was a lot of salt. I was not trying to advertise me, while they have VERY HIGH quality videos there channels aren't setup well. I was using me as an example just because I am of much lower quality yet have that stuff, but I see your point of view. I don't see how I was copying them, bloopers does commercials and skits, I don't do any of those, and montages and cinematics are a VERY big genera just because I do it doesn't mean I copy blu. I do mixtures, gameplay and montage kinda things. He gives me lots of advice and help with them anyway

Anyways, I think you got the wrong way of that part.

 

Yet again, that doesn't give you the right to just bash their channels because "yours is so professional" and theirs are "too unprofessional". Just don't talk about yourself, seriously. Not everything has to involve around you.
PS: In case I sound angry, I'm having an argument with a very abusive brother of mine, so I'm having some personal issues at the moment.

I have seen people constantly bring these topics up and I comepletly agree. If we all want Meepcraft fixed, it starts with you. So let's work together and make it what it used to be.

My only real problem with this is that rankism isn't really a thing.

Trust comes from knowing the player. Not the rank. Ask @Glambert_Girl and @Baby Elsa who were both popular citizens for a while.

If a person comes onto the server and gets ult after two days, no one knows him, people don't trust or notice him just the same as if he were a citizen still.
