AFK Alerts

As I have mentioned, I have a different multiplayer background than most on Meep, so I've seen this used on other servers. When you /msg someone who is registered as AFK, it simply tells you "This person is afk and may not respond". It feels very awkward and almost like spam if you message someone every few minutes to see if they're no longer AFK.

 

Definitely would be a nice addition. As someone who loves to leave MC open when doing other things I hate coming back and moving around and getting spammed with 4 messages from people and not even knowing when they sent it and if they were expecting a response.

Shame the accepted suggestion was 5 months ago and nothing has happened with it. I guess the same goes for many other accepted suggestions just sitting in Trello.

This is exactly what my original idea for the AFK plugin was.

Gotta go afk? type: /afk

When someone messages you, while you're AFK, it sends them a message saying "<Player> is currently AFK." - It then routes those messages sent while AFK to your /mail, so you can easily just /mail read them when unafk

 

Though I like the idea, all I can think of is the spam in chat. Maybe if you could disable the alerts. Though I would like to see this +1

 

What spam would there be in chat? The point of it is that there is no wasted message sent.
It would not declare that the person is afk in global chat, just when you message them.

 

Just to clarify my idea, it would only show the player is afk when you msg them, it would NOT appear in chat.

 

Good idea, if it's already been accepted then I hope it can be implemented soon!

Also, if someone tries to drop you an item when you are afk, why does it spam your chat saying that 'You cannot pick up items while afk.' You're afk! You're not gonna see the messages! xD

 

I'm not saying I don't like the idea, but I don't think this could be accepted because it doesn't really cause any problems. So im not going to vote atm. Gl!

 

Actually, it can cause some problems. Let's say you have to go afk for like, an hour, but you constantly have people msging you on a regular basis. They have no idea you are afk, so they just keep sending messages. Then you come back from whatever you have been doing: total spam clears your chat, and you don't see something important right away. Obviously you can still check your chat logs, but seriously, who does that often?
