I could say the same thing about Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton but that make me a capitalist sexist pig if you want it to be politically correct.

Anyways, with my political rant out of the way, I am split on this decision. I believe that having the ability to make choices define us as humans but also animals act on instinct and they exist so it is hard to say.

No, it would just make you as dumb as Trump. Regardless of whether you agree with them or not, you'd have to be an idiot not to notice that they're both a heckuva lot more aware of the real world than Trump is. The same can be said of most of the Republican field running against Trump (not entirely sure about Carson, Fiorina, or Cruz, though), so this is not a partisan statement.

I've just decided I'm going to make "dumb as Trump" a new idiom.

Trump is a nationalist populist, and my only motivation for voting for him would be for the damage he could do to the GOP party. He's not worth much else.

Yes i agree, if we did not have the ability to think, we would not know we were existing. Although, animals act on instinct and humans used to do that aswell, I believe we could live without thought, but not for very long.

 

To be fair, Descartes was only trying to prove his own existence, so the animal thing doesn't apply. Having proven his own existence first, he reasoned he could then go about proving the existence of other things through ordinary empirical means. If you don't actually exist, and are living in a fever dream, then empiricism gets you nowhere.

What does existing mean?

I believe idea of this question (asked by a philosopher, damn them), was to prove that he himself existed. Once that had been established, he could prove that the world exists.

Which is all rather irrelevant if you don't know what existence is, don't you think?
