Plagiarism

Why is plargiarism barely frowned upon? It's a real illegal offense and it's something you should never do. The fact that we are encouraging a plagiarizer to apply again for a staff position here scares me.

I suggest that if you plagiarize, your applications will not be considered for 6 months or something alone those lines. Make these kids understand that plagiarizing is not allowed and greatly frowned upon on Meepcraft and all of society in general.

It wasn't taken lightly lol he got denied, it can be handled accordingly when we go over apps. This isn't really a prominent issue.

 

Just don't allow him to make staff applications for four years. That is how long it will take for him to come up with something worth accepting for interview, and that's a minimum.

 

An auto-denial is the same as not following the format (when you used to be able to do that), which is not nearly as serious as an offense. Why should we be encouraging plagiarizers to reapply? I never said it was a prominent issue, and it's not like you even need a tech. Just make it so you actually get an applying-related punishment if you plagiarize.

Because he's just a kid and most likely hasn't heard/fully understood that plagiarism is a serious crime. We don't want to shun people away from the server forever. If he can learn and improve/make his own content then I don't see why he shouldn't re-apply. In the past if this has happened and they even re-apply weve denied the application, even if it wasn't plagiarized that time. So to some (smaller, albeit) extent were already doing what you suggested. it's not like we don't completely ignore the fact that they plagiarized either! It's definitely a key factor in determining whether to accept or not.

 

I know other people who plagiarized apps and get accepted again soon after. I think it should be taken more seriously but as june said we don't want to discourage people from playing. IDK what to do!

In the rules (if this isn't put in already), there should be a rule against copying other people's work for applying for media or helper. Each time you plagiarize, you earn a warning point for it. I don't know why people that copy here aren't punished for it. Orion did it twice and his applications were denied automatically. That isn't going to make him stop copying other applications or videos.

Well I mean I kid who's ten, give that kid a brake up to a point. I remember when I applied and I was almost 11 years old and didn't do any other things on forums yet. Geez did people hate me for that. I only made 1 app ever. If he copy and pasted a version of his old app, what's wrong with that? He did make the app after all.. Right? Not sure I'm getting what you guys are saying.

 

Nono, he didn't copy and pasted a version of his old app. On his helper app, he copied a PLAYER'S APPLICATION, not his. For his media, he took the server trailer YouTube link and put it as his own content.

I believe this could be a good thing, as someone who plagiarizes to get into staff should have a long time to rethink everything before they re-apply again, but 6 months seems a bit long. However, I do see plagiarism as a big issue.

 

When it comes to school work/projects, I will admit to plagiarizing. But if people actually think that it's okay to take credit from other people's hard work, than they will literally go nowhere in life.

 

I did read through the whole story but I think I might have skipped over a few things. I did ask if that's what this was about. Please don't be so rude about one little mistake. I'm sorry I did not get what this thread was saying.

I'm sorry I must have taken the caps and the way you said "did you" the wrong way (I'm not being sarcastic). I took it as you were offending me but I obviously took it the wrong way.

 

Denied, these are just kids and they are punished enough by being denied, and this isn't really an issue. Thanks for the suggestion.
