Is A Mechanical Keyboard Worth It? (Help plz)

Hey friends, I was thinking about getting a mechanical keyboard. I found a GREAT deal on a logitech g710+ keyboard with cherry mx browns, usually at like 150 cad but now like 80 instead.

So the thing is, I've searched it up, but nothing has really tailored to me in terms of answers. Is a mechanical keyboard worth it? I see answers like- YES YES YES CHERRYMXMASTERRACE
and then I see things like- If YOU think it's a good idea, get it
Sooo yeah. I would like a mech keyboard as I do quite a bit of typing, and I know I would use it all the way up to grade 12. I've done a bunch of research, and I know it's better... but here's the thing
I feel really guilty if I want to buy something for myself. I've talked to people before and they say that I would just go a cost-benefit analysis, breaking down how much it will cost to is it worth it for me or not. Also, they've said that spending money on yourself is okay, as long as you don't do it all of the time. But even after doing all of my research, I still get a huge guilt, which I feel needs some reinsurance from you guys to feel better. You know whats funny, is that after I get the product, I LOVE it xD

I have the keyboard you speak of and sure its nice, is it worth the extra money? Not really since I don't really play that many games but if you want everything to look nice then sure, go for it. Its worth is arbitrary, its how much you want it.

 

A mechanical keyboard would be very helpful for extended typing sessions, as well as long term typing. They have a longer lifespan of non mechanical keyboards as well (on average).

I just bought the Corsair K95. I get it tomorrow. Ill let you know how it is! I used to use a blackwidow but hated how loud it was. Now I have a deathstalker ultimate but its got chicklet keys. lol

I've had a mechanical keyboard for a year now and I love it as I play osu which is a rhythm game and the mechanical keyboard allows me to press the keys faster. Really a mechanical keyboard is only useful for mashing keys faster on a game like osu and for a typist who spends most of the day, well... typing.

 

Well, I am not exactly a typist, however I do a sizeable amount of typing.
This will also be used for gaming.
I am not really getting it for a general purpose, more as an upgrade from this cheap membrane keyboard. It will be better, and hopefully last me a long time will supplying me with enjoyment along the way.

 

mechanical keyboards are extremley helpful if you plays games such as MMORPGS etc, for key shortcuts and what not, if its for simple uses such as documents, minecraft, google, youtube and what not, then no.

but if you're into huge games, yes.

 

If you have a working keyboard, use it!

 

Just get one of them Logitech £11 keyboards you get at school. If they can withstand 500 kids trying to pull the keys off them every day, I'm sure they'll do you just fine
