Meep Staff/Helpers

Hi.
I have recently had a mini debate styled conversation about the current staff.... most importantly the helpers.
The majority of the players involved in the discussion agree that the helpers should either be changed to new people, or they actually need to help. Don't get me wrong, some of the helpers are genuinely helpful, but there are a few who just dont help what so ever. Helpers in my opinion should be neutral in all scenarios but it seems that quite a few of the helpers aren't like this and they come in to the scenario on someones side backing them up and not listening to the other persons side. Also, half of the time no one is ever online, they always come on in clumps and therefore i suggest that we have helpers who are from different time zones to help with the lack of helpers during parts of the day.
I think that we as a community should have the chance to vote for who they want to gain the rank based on how friendly they are in the chat, how they contribute to the server and overall there entire presence.

Lol no that's not what happened. There were three ppl in the convo. Me and two other cits. The two cits agreed and I disagreed. I don't think that qualifies as a debate, even if you add mini to it. A majority of the other players not in the convo just made fun of you.

 

no i was having a discussion with the person in my town as well and it was more than 1 person who agreed ... quite a few said yes but we couldnt do anything about it .... some wanted it to happen but knows it probably wont...

 

I mean, idk, I've heard of some kind of forums category where we do that, (applications or something, I believe it's called).

Here, let me word it differently:

Although the final decision is made by higher staff, people can post feedback and opinions on new helper applications, which are read through and taken into account during the process. In fact, there are a few helper applications that haven't been decided on yet, if you feel that you have a good reason why the current applicants should or should not be accepted as new members of the staff team.

 

Fair point mate although I suggest making a staff comment so higher ups can see what that staff member/s altercation was with you and what you think. Staff comments are used for positive and negative things.

Professorm4d, it seems you have problems with the staff team, but you lack the insight on how they function and how to actually improve the team.

You want to re-vamp the entire Helper team, some which have been training for weeks to ultimately become mods, just because you think a few of them aren't helpful in chat? Which perfect players would you want to replace them with? There is always going to be an issue, no matter who is on the team, you can't assemble a team of 100% perfect people without finding a flaw in some of them. If you legit think some helpers don't deserve their position you can collect proof and write a well-thought out staff complaint.

Having staff in different timezones is definitely a goal the staff strive for, and they do very well at it. It's not like staff can automatically make people from other timezones apply. Do you already have a group assembled of a dozen people from around the world waiting to apply for helper? If you don't, then you know the same predicament that staff are in. Unless Meep is denying apps from other timezones on a regular basis then there is no real reason to complain.

If you genuinely want to see a change in the team then it's up to you to do what it takes to get staff and to improve the team internally. If you're not applying and trying to make a change, and if you're not urging your friends to do the same, then you have no reason to complain.

Being a helper can be difficult. If you want to change the team, get on the team! Show us what YOU can do.
If you want staff in that timezone, encourage your friends to apply, or even apply yourself - it's great fun, not for everyone, but if you're up to the task sure. I know that staff in the late night/early morning timezone have few to no staff on but that's something thats really not in our control.

Keep in mind that this is a VOLUNTEER job, and along with the fact that the staff are, I believe, mostly between the ages of 12 and 21 (with the exception of only a few people who are older).

We're kids who are working for free on our favorite minecraft server. We are not perfect, we are trying our best <3

You can apply in the application section under support. I would very highly suggest being very active on forums, in game helping in global, and on TS, for at least a few weeks before applying.

 

i cant get ts on my computer .... will that affect my chances?

MeepCraft has never been a democracy. It simply resembles that by adding in information, but sometimes, players' input is considered by staff. Usually, it is only the staff's choice who gets picked. It's more like an oligarchy (admins/supermods and perhaps all staff?) discussing whether or not to accept anyone.

 

I'm going to deny this because we already take the communities opinion. However, the community cannot possibly see everything that we do on the 'inside'. That is why some people that you think are "inactive" just because they don't talk in /shout are still here; they're doing staff work . Thank you for the suggestion and good luck on your application!
