Helper Application from Lady_Hestia

After reading the concerns people have with me I'd like to sincerely say thank you for bringing these up.

Here's how I plan to deal with these issues

Full of it/acting superior
I need to remember that I'm not perfect. My opinions don't matter more than anyone else's. I will also try to be an better listener. This might be the hardest thing to fix for me but I'm going to try!

Trash talk
Some of the things I'm accused of saying are not true. However I did trash talk. I didn't understand that what I was doing was not ok. I thought that because it wasn't in bad spirit it was ok. I now see it's not and I need to learn to be confident enough to talk to people directly. Truth is, I'm easy to anger but I forgive even easier. I'm sorry to those I hurt and please know that I wasn't trying to be cruel and I dont hate you. I know that if someone did this to me I'd rather them come to me than spread rumors.

Power hungry
During my time on staff I loved all the work I did and I was addicted to it. I loved being a leader, I loved helping people, and doing trello work. I became obsessed with trying to do more and that's what a promotion meant to me. I didn't even realize it! If I'm accepted back on the team I'm going to go slower, put some of the effort I put here into real life, and try to form better relationships with my coworkers.

I am beyond sad that my relationships with people and the staff team here have suffered because of me and I hope this is the first step to remedy that. I'll ask of you to please talk to me if I do anything you dislike. Anything from a simple comment I made to the way I treat people.

 

While she was talking behind people's backs (like every human being does), you also went behind her back by telling the upper staff. She most likely trusted you, that's why she told you her feelings and thoughts. This just makes me believe that you are untrustworthy.
I find what you did to be just as bad.

Idk this just seems all hypocritical.

I'm not sure why being goal-oriented is a bad thing, necessarily. Hestia was always a good helper/moderator who went above and beyond her duties to help players. Ultimately, her desire for supermod won't hurt the team--on the contrary, it would just mean that she'd be maximizing her talents, as Hestia has always shown an aptitude for organizing large-scale projects. It's not as if she was saying "I want supermod so I can demote all the helpers I don't like."

Furthermore, the amount of glee you show when posting the screenshot illustrates the underlying personal biases fueling your hunger for the application's denial. While you stated above, I'm not -1-ing her because I don't like her," I'm really uncertain you don't have any personal beef against Hestia. Although it's completely fine to think Hestia wouldn't be a capable helper, it's both selfish and unprofessional to include personal quarrels in your decision to +1 and -1.

Lastly, I'd like to take a step back from this discussion, as it's ultimately unproductive. I don't really know Hestia on a personal level, and any opinion I have comes from my relatively distant observations of her work as staff. In other words, I don't know her well enough to form a strong opinion either way.

 

Most people here need to understand aiming for higher staff positions is not something to be ashamed of and shaming them for wanting the ability to do more is not cool. Power hungry has been a term used to halt up and coming staff members and people in position of power for far too long. The worst part is it comes from people who simply misinterpret actions or things said.

Also that SS of that snap convo was worthless because it proved nothing bad about her.

Im a bit removed from the server but if theres one thing I do know how to do its read people and hestia the fact that you didnt mention your demotion and in your second post addressing comments you still didn't include it is somewhat worrying. I feel as though you should say why you were demoted, even if it is just your side of the story. Not doing so gives the appearance that you haven't accepted your reason or think its bull, either one is bad for your application.

 

I have found this to be one of the most interesting staff apps.

I don't really know if you should be back on the staff team for the reason of I don't know how the other staff will take it. I believe you are a great staff member and will get the job done just fine, The issue is that the staff team need to all work together and I just don't know if you can work with all of them. +0 atm

As I have said, Hestia and I are yet to argue or fight in any way, shape, or form. I don't quite understand why this is consistently brought up, and I am concerned that you may be misunderstanding my point. Given that I don't want to keep posting on the same staff application, I'd love to talk with you over TeamSpeak or Slack if you have any more concerns. Let me know at your convenience.

 

although many people don't care what I have to say I would still love to put my 2 sense in and really show everyone how mature I can be, I am a -/+ all the time you were helper I enjoyed it, Despite what others have to say you did do your job as far as helping people and other things too, When I first applied for staff you instantly said "I'm giving you a -.5 for now but please message me and I will be more happy to HELP you and mentor you into becoming helper material" and so I did just that, You were one of the only ones to offer me any help on how to become that "helper material", Now that doesn't fix what you did and I think its still a bit too soon for you to be re applying for staff - I don't see you as anything but helper if that for a long while, I would also like to mention when me and other people have privately messaged you you would ignore us, I messaged you and you replied and then after I replied again I got no response, But that shouldn't have anything to do with you becoming staff again. You were an excellent worker for the most part, Now I would also like to mention when someone said "While she was talking behind other peoples backs (as all humans do)" okay this is complete stupidity because no one especially a staff member especially someone as high up as she was should be talking about anyone behind their backs, its childish and immature, Your guys biggest complaint in applications is "too immature" well guess what many staff / ex staff members are immature and that is a perfect example. Goodluck on becoming staff again!

 

I don't see anything wrong with this; from my point of view, it seems to me that she is seeking super-mod to purely assist the server by looking for more power to make a change. Likewise, I can see and understand this perspective in trying to change the server. Of course, patience and good work ethics should be accounted for, which I believe Hestia possesses. Very much like how she's mentioned before, it's good to have goals to aim for. Excluding the fact that I have not had much experience with you, Hestia, I feel that you would be fit for the position again. Henceforth, I hope that you continue to support a positive and helpful attitude (unlike me).

On the subject of this matter, I just wanted to mention that:

is not entirely true. While it may seem like it, Hestia did not really mention much about ensuring her position as a staff member or egocentrism. Not to mention, you seem a little bit hypocritical yourself. On your last helper application, you seem to have written out your summary in a similar fashion; speaking in a way that states as if you were purely anticipating the position back onto the team.


Of course, this is not the most pressing matter currently, and it was not to my intent to complain about the behavior of others. Nevertheless, the point I am trying to make here is that you shouldn't put down a person for negative characteristics that also may apply to you. Especially work on weaknesses that you are aware of, and attempt to assist others in succeeding, instead of attempting to compete. Not trying to purposely refute any of your beliefs or create a bad picture, just wanted to point several things out.

Occasionally, some people may forget this fact and try to apply for a staff position. This, I believe, is a fundamental reason that should be the true motive, whether it be directly or indirectly, for becoming staff. I completely agree with your reasoning here, as I do not see many negative attributes with Hestia, but a great notion to help others on the server. Consequently, I'd expect to see much change in the community, and I hope that it would make a positive impact on the server. Evidently, these advancements would occur over the course of future events. Despite the matter in which is being presented against the original applicant, I'm at a +1 for now.

 

I have avoided addressing my demotion because it's really messy in my opinion(and staff gave me to ok to exclude it). But if you want to message me here or on teamspeak I'll be happy to answer all the questions you have!

 

I don't see any issue with the way you addressed your demotion, honestly it shouldn't be overly in there, You don't go into a job saying everything you did wrong previously do you? no they normally ask I do however feel trust is an issue here, You were a good staff member we all know, but you did get demoted for a reason, and too want to pretty much jump right back into staff where you were is absolute ridiculous, you need to wait longer, maybe become helper and work your way back up the ladder again, I was also a witness to the whole courtneyyyy thing and you were really immature ( I know I can be immature at times) but you told me my immaturity was an issue and there you go with yours, you say one thing but do another. I'm glad your open to saying what happened to you demotion but this also isn't the 1st time either.

anyways, I couldnt see what hestia did wrong, she did a fantastic job and she should continue still +1

 

Wehther she did her "Job" or not isnt the problem, She got Demoted for a REASON! you dont just get demoted especially from being a Mod, It doesnt work like that, there is a legitimate reason, and wehther or not she says she didnt do it, there was obviously proof as to why it happened, i loved Hestia as a staff member trust me i did, but when you make a mistake you have to live with the consequence. Not saying she shouldnt be staff later on but this is way too soon, She needs to earn it back again.

 

Please remember this is a young ladies application, not a forum for people to debate opinions. Post your opinion and move on. If you disagree with someone else's post, then take it to another thread.
