Towny Events/Parties/Celebration

So this idea came to me with MeepTimes #33, about the birthday party in Celestite for Ukicorn. So the idea is to have a chose of public or private activity or event to take place in an area or town for this particular event. It can be organised by a Meeper, on a particular day, time and location for this event to be held. On a public activity it can be told in a global chat base on a reminder for the event 24 hours, 12 hours, 6 hours, 1 hour, 15 minutes and 5 minutes before it starts (an example) to alert people of the time and place. With a private activity, the organiser for the event can give out invitation to people of their chose about the event, and private alerts. For both types, people have the option to either accept the event request (this will have them on alert for the event, till it starts), Interested (have some alerts of the event as they still unsure if they want to join, be too busy or can't) and if they are not interested can deny the event (no alerts or messages of the event will show up). This would really bring the community closer together, with these types of events and surprises, aiming closer to a better Meep Community. This suggestion can have a different approach if needed, just openly suggesting an idea like this.

 

Meh, you could always get staff to help you organize, no plugins are needed

 

If it can be organized by a meeper it can be held and announced etc by a meeper

 

Having parties that only select people can join wouldn't bring the community closer together. Also, you could just say all of this instead of having a plugin do it for you. This also sounds extremely complicated to code. +1 for the idea, but -1 because I don't think staff have the time for this.

 

There doesn't need to be a plugin for everything. Every extra plugin you add increases overall latency. Easier way:

1. Advertise your event in global
2. Message certain players only
3. /mail them a few days beforehand

Any of those work, and don't take a ton of time to do.

 

If you added that people would spam fake parties with offensive or annoying names for every single day of the calendar. Imagine spawning in and seeing chat filled with a never ending stream of stupid fake events like lickfuzzlrday is tooooday!!!! and teleport here for gold limited time offer wot wot!? just absolutely clogging the chat! If I were you I would just go with spontaneous parties where you ask people to teleport to you using /tpa or using /mail to send invites ahead of time. /mail is perfect for this because your mail is persistent and every message received is read each time the mailbox is checked unless they have been cleared. Just send invitees mail invitations in advance and pm them telling them to check their mail. No plugin needed. You should really try thinking sometimes mate.

 

The suggestion is good, just try not to insult others for their suggestions.

 

Sorry its just that emotions can be difficult to convey through text. I was trying to come off as jovial. I really liked that he wanted to make meepcraft more fun with events!
