So I have seen a lot of increases in hacking recently and would like to suggest a system that would ban hackers without staff needing to do it, how the system works is if a player types /report boombox123 then it would send an invisible mob around me and then if i started hitting it then I would have kill aura, because you couldn't see it in the first place. Also this could test for aimbot as well. If the player was caught hacking the bot would permanent ban them or put them in jail, whilst also still being broadcasted in global.

Sounds like a hard thing to pull off if it is even possible.

probably a lot of false bans would happen, best to leave it to actual people to determine if someone is hacking

Appears like it'd just be an invisible mob spawned to follow that person (from a few blocks away), probably also invincible. Then, if the mob takes damage 3 times (to rule out accidents), it's gonna ban the supposed hacker. The mob would probably be a bunny, silent and small.

MeepCraft requires 3 pieces of evidence to ban cheaters, if I remember correctly. There still could be false positives.

I dont see why staff can't handle this issue, or you can report it, considering the false bans (due to either simply a false positive because it's a program vs a human, or a bug/glitch in the system which we all know happens a lot on some of meeps plugins) would be worse for the server overall than just some players having to deal with it for a little longer.

If a new player gets banned for this even though they werent hacking, do you expect them to stay? It's not like we're gaining new players at good rates anyhow.

Honestly, this is what mods are for. If there's any sort of problem, you file a modreq for their help. I was talking to you earlier today and I told you that you shouldn't accuse hackers in global because then they'll turn it off, get away, and turn it on again in the future. I told you to file a modreq instead, so that mods can check it out. Yet, you don't want to waste any mod's time. This would take too much work, and for what? Ironically, taking the time to do this would waste more time for our mods & techs rather than actually filing a modreq.

As soon as the hacker sees that mods are in the same server, they turn off their hacks this has happened tons to me even when i said to come in /vanish, they do not listen and the hacker gets away which is why i usually record it but my wifi doesn't work a lot of the time so i can't

There would be a lot of false positives, as said before. Isn't this what mods are for also? Plus people would just modify their aimbot mods to only target visible mobs.

This is exactly what would happen. Pretty sure KA doesn't target invisible mobs by default, so this would apply to the idiot hacker of the year toggling it on invisible mobs. That's easy enough to catch as it is, so this idea would be redundant and wastes resources.

And accusing them or saying it in global doesn't make them get away?

Your WiFi is not the reason you have issues recording things.

That would not be the wifi that's be your computer's power , try a different recording program or get someone else to do it

How are you planning on justifying the increasing in false bans?

Most of the time recording issues happen because of weak computers. I assume that his computer can't have multiple programs in the background and that causes framerate or other various problems.

I honestly think multiple players will be falsely banned for hacking. Like the comments above, there's a reason why mods exist.

I thought we had NoCheatPlus already? As people above have mentioned, people usually turn on kill aura/aim to visible players only, so this will just waste the time to develop it. What NoCheatPlus can't handle, mods can handle

No it is not recording it that doesn't work it is the fact that it takes overnight to a couple of days to upload the footage, which I do not like doing

I think that this idea is a nice idea in concept, but I don't think that developing it is a practical use of our time at this point in Meep's history. Some of these reasons have been mentioned above, but I'll just reiterate here:
    • False positives. It's incredibly difficult to get a perfect anti-hacking system implemented. In regard to our playerbase count, it's important that we try to avoid as many accidental bans as possible.
    • Existing implementations. The server has anti-cheat plugins installed that prevent a lot of the most well-known "hacking" attempts. Anti-chest and anti-hacking plugins tend to be relatively resource-intensive, and it's important that we try to keep the server running as efficiently as possible.
    • Staff. Our moderators are more than capable of watching for hacking attempts--and they usually jump on the ball when someone reports a hacking instance on our forums. Because we have this system in place currently, it's not a good use of our time to create a redundant system for less-common scenarios.
Thank you for making your suggestion! I think that if we had more resources and more time, we might consider this in a different light. Please don't let this denial discourage you from making future suggestions. :)
