Introduction: Hello, I am kent, I am not the most well known person on the server and definitely not the most active. I am very eager to help people when they need it. I am a brutally honest and fair person and will address problems with the best of my ability. I am the creator of FIRST robotics team 5509’s website so I am skilled with HTML. I am gaming most of the time and most of my free time goes into minecraft and meep.

Why should you be Helper? I want to become helper so I can help people and unlike other moderators, intervene in situations before they escalate to larger problems like I have witnessed happen many times. I also would like to give back to meep for the community it gives me and the enjoyment I get from it. I would also answer as many modreqs as I possibly could. I would treat everyone with respect no matter how flamey or irritating they are or how much trouble they have caused. If someone said i was doing a bad job in an area I would take that to heart and improve that part of me.

What are your weaknesses? Some of my weaknesses include a lack of community involvement, as I’m not too keen on talking to others on discord using voice. I also question the high staff a bit too much and find answers I don’t like hard to accept. Being brutally honest doesn't help all the time either as I might say things that are unprofessional although this happens rarely.

Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: if you have questions you can e-mail me at [email protected]

Your application is not bad, but I will go over some things that could make it stronger.

This is a very low amount of activity time for a Helper.

This is a decent amount of time for a Helper on weekends, but other helper are on from 5-10 hours normally.

Your introduction should be very detailed. In this part of the application we want to know about you, and the things you do in your life. How do you spend your time on Meepcraft? Your slacking on detail in this section.

We all want to become a Helper, A Helper you should be able to handle large situations. That is something that all staff members can do. But what is something that stands about you, Something that others staff members may not have!

Your weakness section is very important! Higher staff need to know your weaknesses so they can help you improve on them. This section seems like you have explained to us your weaknesses pretty well.

Overall I am going to have to go with a -1. I'd like to see you re-apply in the future. But right now you are not ready. Good luck!

Edit: This is my first time using this type of format to respond to a application, and I don't like how it turned out lol

Hey there Lane, this is a good start to making an application but its needs a lot more detail involved.

As I said yesterday in CasualMow's application, if you are making a point you need to expand and give more reasoning behind it.
    For example:
    * 'I want to become helper so I can help people' - In what way would you help people? Essentially this is just explaining what anyone could do without the title of Helper, let alone the individual characteristics that you could bring to the role to 'help' people.
    * 'give back to meep for the community' - How will you give back to Meep?

We learn a little bit about you in the first section but yet again these points can be expanded. Even the bit where you talk about being 'the creator of FIRST robotics team 5509’s website', it is interesting to read about so write a few more sentences on this. Maybe add on how this can aid you, if you do become successful, as a Helper.

Your weaknesses can also do with a bit more background behind them. For instance, you can pick a weakness and explain how you will overcome this.
    For example:
    * 'Some of my weaknesses include a lack of community involvement, as I’m not too keen on talking to others on discord using voice' - This is a great start but by adding, for example, 'However, I will try to involve myself more in the community by becoming more active on forums or getting used to speaking to people on Discord, this will help my confidence is these situations'. To be honest I was scared of speaking to people on Discord but by slowing chatting to @EllieEllie @CluelessKlutz @Draqq @MasterofBoom , I have become a lot more confident. So try speaking to a few of your friends and you'll slowly get used to it!

For the time being I am going to leave my vote as a -1 but with more detail and individual touches, you will get there with a successful application. Don't let this vote stop you from trying again with another application but good luck in the future!

    Hey Lane!

So it looks like you are on a high school robotic's team, very great to hear that! I'm actually interested in one myself, although that's in Japan. With that being said, your age of 19 sounds a little fishy to me. I don't want to be offensive or anything, but was this a mistake? If you are faking your age, it's best not to.

I don't even know what's going on meep anymore these days, but I think you could put a little more detail into your application, such as describing specific traits that you think will be handy when you were to do the job. Remember that your Why section is to convince the audience that you are in fact qualified for this position. Therefore, you should write more about yourself rather than what you want to do.

It's great to see someone interested in programming. Keep your work up! I will be at a -1 now, but I am sure you can clarify things :)

1-2 hours? You should at least try to get on a bit more, even if on minechat, It helps!

This is more like it, still not as long as a lot of people I know, but still it's a lot more than 1-2 hours.

Try to get more references! This makes it seem like a lot of people don't want you to be helper,

    Hello Kent,
Try talking on global a lot more, I've never seen you in game before, that i rememeber ofc
Being brutally honest can be good, but to what extent?

Don't ask me on my opinion on this, as i have zero idea what it means

    Hmmm

Obviously you want to help people if your helper, Why wouldn't you?

Like in what situations? Before I had somebody blow up my town (don't ask who, i've forgiven them now) I modreqed it and was sad.
I modreqed and a mod came, Little to my knowledge a supermod was there moderating the situation etc, Personally I think staff are able to do their job from what I've seen.

    ;-;

    ok

I'm sorry, you really seem like a smart nice guy, but

I've seen you talk in town chat but that's as far as it goes for your activity, I don't see you as active as I'd hope a staff member to be, aside from that I've never seen you help out in global, try and do that a bit more so I can tell if you're knowledgeable of a wide range of things, one thing I'd say is increase the amount of time you're on, if that's not possible for the time I don't think you should be applying just yet and to focus and what is taking so much time up, it's a -1 from me, goodluck!

Tbh people are nit picking the app so hard, yes it was a bit short but it was well wrotten enough that its definitely not the worst app Ive ever seen, Ive seen so much worse be accepted.

You seem chill on forums, havent seen you otherwise, dont worry too much about how active you can be. Theres so many staff members that even 1-2 hours on weekdays would be fine, hah.

All I can say is dont take anything to heart too much and keep putting your name out there and youll be all good.

    +1

if you question my knowledge with things like commands and tech specs I can share a link with you containing a 1.12.1 spigot server download with fully configured plugins and properties. As for my previous experience I am a developer and builder for the ganglords technic modpack server. that can be found here:

I like your application. Short, but well written.
I think @Muunkee summed up everything I wanted to say.
I don’t really care about a 40 person long reference list, as long as you have a trustworthy and smart person as one of them.
As for the hours, we all have our different schedules, and 1 to 2 hours isn’t that bad considering some don’t come on for days at a time. Again, we all have our reasons.
I liked your short and simple, but yet precise app.
    I’m a +1.

Actually I had worked on 2-3 years of C++ myself (one of my favorite languages), without Java in 4 years (when I worked on Android development), but I wanted to be Tech so I reviewed some Java and started practicing and making plugins for a couple months and look where I am now. I'm gonna have to say a -1 on your app, all my points are above.

Skepticism is fine and is a good quality to have. However, it's going to be extremely important to understand that the MeepStaff is a team, and it may make decisions as a whole that individual members disagree on. It cannot afford to have individuals act contrary to what the staff as a whole has decided--this would show a lack of unity, and this has always been been bad juju in the past.

Make sure to not confuse being "brutally honest" with being "brash." Meaning, you can still be honest and up front without being rude.

Response not entirely related to the app:

C++ is actually insanely similar to Java in several aspects (albeit having multiple differences). This is especially true when you consider the various paradigms; for instance, if one learns how to utilize functional lambdas within object-oriented C++, they are going to have a better time utilizing lambdas in the very object-oriented Java programming language. If someone learns about design patterns in Java, they're going to have an okay time utilizing design patterns in C++. Even pointers, which both always and never exist in Java (lol) are more easily understood once fiddling with the stack and heap in C++. Furthermore, those who start viewing languages as tools instead of lifelines can use the analytical skill garnered from learning any language and apply it to most any other computer language in some fashion or another. I'm sure you'll find that if you learned C++ properly, it should be relatively easy to catch on to Java quickly.

This is such a big flaw. There are so many little arguments and really silly things on the staff team, and if you can't deal with it and find compromise, you're not going to get very far. If you're a good arguer, then you might be ok, but just watch your step I guess. I think you would be a decent helper/moderator but nothing more. -1
