Discord or TeamSpeak?

    Pretty much as the title says, which software would you prefer to talk on?

    Personally I am leaning towards discord, as I think that with it being free, it's not too bad, we can create our own server, add friends with links, invite bots to make the chats more fun and organised, and you can have colorful and fun roles to give to players, some of the bots I find make discord much better such as ones with games, memes, and music, although I'm not strictly focusing on discord as I think ts has a much clearer audio so it's much easier to understand.

    I don't want anyone starting arguments over their own opinion, please keep it light and let's be civil and keep it under control plsty

    discord is for the simple minded plebs. Teamspeak has far more interactive and custom settings that when one knows how to use, can create a very personalize server. Also, actions are public on teamspeak, so u can see what happens in real time and be held accountable for it. Discord has a server log, but is only accessible by those with the power to view it.

    Discord's only saving grace is that its free and its voice quality is slightly better.

    Teamspeak for a more creative server, discord for free, casual use.

    teamspeak is a much better option for massive servers (like the one I dev on hint: my optifine cape) but for meep, discord is much better, funny though a very similar thread was created on their forums. that is why I'm making this point as a moderator made the same statement as I have here.

    As a large server owner I love discord, I think it's more convenient and free = good. However, the servers on discord occasionally go down, and their Eastern US server is usually kinda laggy. TS has better quality, hate to admit it, but you do have to pay. Also discord is sleek and teamspeak looks like something you'd see on a 1980's tv show

    I prefer teamspeak only because I’m more used to it and it gives me nostalgia.

    Discord is a great application that’s made to be very simple and easy to use to communicate with others. (It was made by or with the makers of slack too which makes it great also). But then again, if it were my choice I would prefer teamspeak just because.

    I like discord, it looks much sleeker and modern (no offence teamspeak). However sometimes I do have trouble with connecting to voice on discord and my mic doesn't work but teamspeak always did. But I still like discord since I barely use mic and it's easier to communicate via chat too :)

    I was always a fan of TeamSpeak mainly due to us having one for so long. It was fairly easy to setup and customize when needed which is why I still have a 128 license. I am only weeks into discord and honestly like what I have seen so far. It definitely is nice that people don't have to buy an app to use discord.

    Update: I used the voice part of discord last night for over an hour and I like the voice part of TS3 way better. discord definitely looks more updated but its smoke and mirrors lol.

    I still use TeamSpeak to talk with Klutch but I love discord the most, only because its easy to use and you don't have to pay for the apps, or have to pay to make your own server. As a Streamer, I use it to talk with my Viewers and get their Feedback on my Streams and what to improve on.

    • As a computer scientist I tend to really like Discord simply because one can easily integrate server-side Discord bots.
    • Furthermore, the layouts of the Discord text-channels (regarding history and aesthetics) are simply more pleasing.
    • I can log into multiple Discord channels without the needing to open up multiple clients like in TeamSpeak (without using some sort of client-side mod)
    • Discord is beginning to support video messages
    • The hosting of one or more Discord servers is free
    • Discord's Android app is free
    • If I'm on the go and I only have a web browser, I can use the web app for Discord
    Obviously TeamSpeak is more mature and they've nailed down the quality a bit better (but Discord is improving), but even then I've preferred low-latency programs like Mumble over TeamSpeak. That being said, I hang around my various TeamSpeak servers because more people my age tend to use it, but I think as a program Discord seems to be nicer.
