There is a pretty high chance that NK missile would be intercepted before it hits Hawaii. Private companies can already land rockets on moving ships, so if they don't intercept the missile it would be an embarrassment to the nation. Hawaii's GDP is 61 billion USD and I doubt it would even take a few billion to develop a great interception system.

It doesn't seem like NK has any individual motive to attack the United States, because they would probably be quickly destroyed. It would make more sense if they were actually a puppet state acting to defend the interests of a superpower like China or Russia.

Sanctions aren't going to stop a starving country. China is NK's lifeline. Get China to change it's mind, you can get NK to back down and "Rocket Man" will hand over his toys.

The issue is that the side that attacks first is going to end up looking like the bad guys, so the US wont attack, but that makes a problem, NK has 2 satellites, which are nuclear, which means they are essentially EMP's which if was used over the US, could potentially send the US back to the stone age, its a game of chess between a NK and the US.

Realistically, there will never be a nuclear war. Even though it seems like Kim is bat shit crazy enough to start one, he (along with anyone advising him) knows the consequences of war that involves nukes.

All I care about is nuclear testing around the globe to stop so I don't have contaminated fish for sushi.

Okay I forgot about this, and threw away my speech while cleaning my room yesterday. The whole basis of my speech was based off NOT going to war because of the countries around North Korea geographically would be forced into a world war, we would ignite a fight where there is none when we have no diplomatic relations, and some of the support such as a booming wartime economy is just flawed logic (broken window fallacy if you’re interested why a booming wartime economy was the dumbest thing I’ve been taught in school)

soo idk if anyone posted this i think its pretty interesting

listening to the pieces of what the president has said about north korea, he does not seem to be too concerned with them (i.e, "little rocket man," 'i have a bigger nuclear button,' etc,) however north korea is taking this very seriously and their government is working hard to keep them supporting their supreme leader; even if it means signing essentially their whole country (lol the number the dude gave was like their whole population; elders down to babies,) up for war.

their govt officials say towards the end there will be no peace talks, they are sure they are going to war soon, and throughout the whole documentary there is no doubt in any of those interviewed that they will crush the U.S when/if it comes down to it.

thoughts ? (on the escalation, how to deescalate, propaganda, U.S and NK govt officials .. idk.)

No, I don’t think we will go to war.

The media hypes up events like these, blowing anything that ever happens related to North Korea up as if it’s a sure sign of war.

North Korea has no incentive to pick a fight with the US. It is well known, just about everywhere, that we greatly overpower North Korea, and I don’t think anyone could be that stupid to essentially throw a snowball at one of the world’s superpowers.

Regardless, have you read up on the conditions of North Korea? They are without food, and starving. I’m didn’t check the reliability of the source that told me this, but one source even said that soldiers were released to go find food for their families or the military. North Korea is not a large country geographically, or population wise, and they would not be able to support themselves for a long drawn out war.

What I think will happen with North Korea? Our Supreme Leader in this US will keep taunting their Supreme Leader, everybody will be so caught up that “we’re going to war” and it will never happen.

Even if I’m wrong, North Korea could attack us, but the war wouldn’t be coming to us. The skirmishes that negatively harm both sides of war will likely be happening in South Korea or other Asian countries.

Thoughts on the Olympics in South Korea and both Korea’s having diplomatic relations so they can field some teams from both Koreas?

Almost every nearby country's economy relies somewhat on us, especially China and South Korea. Add that to the "bigger nuclear button" factor, and NK is pretty much heck'd. The supreme leader is crazy, but he isn't that crazy, to pick a fight he's guaranteed to lose

The US only gets into a fight if North Korea does something first. All they're going to do is threaten, because if they do more, they'd lose in a matter of a battle or two. Because of this, North Korea has no incentive to do more than threaten.

i think it very much so is possible that Kim himself has begun to believe his own propaganda honestly.. and they have an estimated 60 nukes which is enough to eliminate us with ease in theory.

as in M.A.D.? are you implying a form of another cold war?

i was gonna mention this too! i think its pretty cool, hopefully it goes by smoothly and politics won't get in the way.
