Make Hacks perm on first offence

Title says all.
Who "accidentally" has hacks or "Doesn't know it wasn't allowed"?

When they do come back after they get banned the first time, it usually means they actually care. Is it really this much of a problem? Because tbh, I haven't seen many reports on second-time hackers.

After the first ban 99% of them change. For that 1% that doesn't, they get that perm ban.

That 99% staying outweighs the 1% as they are easily dealt with.

All of the people who stay around meep for the 7 days after getting banned will learnt their lesson 90% of the time, otherwise they will be long gone in no time.

Stupid noobs hacking will play, get banned, erase Meep on their server list, and never come again.

This is completely incorrect. I've banned a lot of hackers in my //over a year// as staff, and out of all those bans, I think only three or four were repeat hackers.

 

If they actually cared about meep they wouldn't have hacked in the first place.

If they actually care they can appeal. Even if it's denied it means they actually cared about the server.

It's faster to type

/ban (Player) hacking
than
/tempban (player) hacking

You don't have to worry about them hacking again.

With the surplus of players joining isn't it better to show them that hacking is bad?


A hacker won't learn their lesson..

If they take the time to make an account and appeal then they clearly want to come back they may not want to come back and they may not even realise they were banned. But they'll just come online for some casual trolling

However, this brings up the point that not everyone knows how to appeal, not everyone is allowed a forums account, and they might just assume they can never come back.

 

That's why it says at the bottom of the ban you can appeal at meepcraft.com

That's like saying X-Rayers never change. I used to x-ray (a year ago) and I changed fully.

 

Do you really think everyone reads that? I'd like to repeat the fact that very few people ever //need// to be permanently banned for hacking, because they either already don't come back, or they stop hacking! Why do we need to ban countless people from the server completely, when most of those currently banned never hack here again.

People often attribute the harsh (and inctedibly biased) ban system of the past to the success of old Meep. Need I remind everyone that with theft bans, the //victim// essentially decided the punishment (and appeal) for the theif? Maybe Old Meep did a lot of good stuff, but trust me, the ban and staff systems were not the secret to the success.

When a player gets banned the first time USUALLY they come back and don't hack. Now this isn't always the case but I like the 7day tempban because again they come back changed. Hmm but then you think about if they appeal they have to proof they changed. My vote is a +/- You could really argue any direction about this suggestion.
