Shoutbox

I've been running across other XenForo forums, and they have a feature called "shoutbox". It allows you to live chat with everyone who is logged in on the forums. All you have to do is just type something in and it'll show up on the chat. I think this is a nice way of chatting with everyone instead of convos and status updates.

 

Already been suggested and I believe it was denied. Which is silly.

I think the reason was, that they said they couldn't moderate it, but it should have the same rules as global. (obviously) Anyone could take a simple screenshot and report them if they swear a lot or some crap like that...

 

Pfft. I could moderate it. I'm on here all the damn time. it's not hard.

or it could just have a warning that says before you enter the shoutbox "Warning: The shoutbox is not always moderated and may contain spam or inappropriate messages. You are free to report a message if you are uncomfortable with it, but it is not necessary."

there would also maybe be a 5 second cooldown on posting?

That sounds like an awesome idea, who doesn't want a casual chat on the forums once in a while. It'd be like /g chat on the forums.

Denied. This would be extremely hard to moderate and we agree that this is not needed. Thanks for the suggestion though
