Well, ever since 1.9 came out, work has been done to update the server to The Combat Update (1.9). Then, we had the whole EULA mess, so now that's being worked on as well. No matter what, there are plans to update Meep to 1.9 at some point. Then, Mojang decides to troll servers everywhere by releasing the official version of

This explains virtually everything changed/added in 1.10, but I would also like to point out there are already fewer bugs in 1.10 than 1.9.
My suggestion: don't waste time updating things to 1.9, and skip straight to 1.10

It depends if we ever update to 1.9+. I haven't heard any progress on making the server 1.9 for awhile now. (Mainly because EULA and pvpers)

Love the new blocks, villagers, structure blocks, and mobs / animals, but I extremely hate auto jump. I guess it's to hard to press space bar anymore :/
The structure blocks would be great for making symmetrical maps for CTF. Would help architects a lot.

This is a good update overrall imo, will probably help push Meep to be passed 1.8

To be completely honest, I hate 1.9. I'm guessing anything above 1.9 will have features of 1.9, so I don't want it implemented.

The main reason is the PvP. I am a passionate PvPer (not on this server much) and I don't like the new "cooldown period" you have to wait in for your attacks. Even the whole update is named "The Combat Update". What's wrong with the way it is? I can kind of see how they did this to stop people using spam click hacks, but there are more fair players than hackers. I don't see the point.

Shields are a stupid idea. What's the point of blocking arrows when you can press the "a" or "d" button to move away from it? And, if you're holding two things at the same time, 1) You could mess up which one you use, and end up fighting a creeper with a hoe, and 2) What's so hard about scrolling up or down the tiniest bit? Therefore, there is no point in having these defensive strategies.

And then there's the other items. Tipped arrows. What's the point? Arrow of Regeneration, Swiftness, Fire Resistance, Healing, Night Vision, Strength, Leaping, Invisibility, Poison, Weakness, Slowness, Harming, Water Breathing and Luck. Seem familiar? Exactly. They're potions. What's wrong with POTIONS? And the Elytra. There is absolutely no point to this. I mean, Survival Mode is meant to be Survival Mode. No flying. If you can glide, what good is this? If you want to fly, just do a simple command. /gamemode c. Or /gamemode 1. It's that easy. It's ABSOLUTELY USELESS.

I sum up my case. 1.9 is stupid, and so is everything after it. Stay in 1.8, thank you very much.

I understand the reason you hate 1.9, but there is going to be a point when we need to change to a newer version of minecraft.
I'll agree that I hate the cool-down period, but this isn't really a valid argument anymore since all you need is a command block to shorten the cooldown to like 0 - 1. (Unless you include PvE like @ /wild or Towns)

I don't really understand some of the arrows like: NightVision, Water Breathing, Leaping.
There are some extremely useful arrows though: Poison (most archer classes in MANY games have this) Weakness, Slowness, Harming (dear god that damage) Healing / Regeneration arrows against undead enemies could be useful in map making / solo. This will most likely benefit the potion market, most of the potion market is complete garbage atm.

The Elytra isn't an item you can create, it's like a saddle. It will hold value. I wouldn't call it flying or gliding, I would call it "Falling with style." Also, the Elytra will be as rare as Dragon eggs (unless they sell them at shops) because you can only find them in end cities. If Elytra is sold at shops, then there is another way to get rid of in game cash on the server. Since I believe you can only repair them with another Elytra. I'll say what many have said to me when I hate stuff in games: "If you don't like it, don't use it."

At this rate, many players will update their minecraft to 1.9+ eventually, And if Meepcraft chooses to stay in 1.8, it will devastate the chances of gaining new players that will have potential to stay. I am starting to see many more benefits in updating the server.

You can turn auto jump off. No one's forcing you to use it, just switch it off in settings if you dislike it.

Eh. I'd have to disagree. 1.9 pvp is actually pretty good. Though it may get long or annoying, it's pretty intense. If they just sped up some of the cool downs, it'd be fine. Arrows are pretty much somewhat stackable potions and the variety is pretty nice. Shields are sort of fine I guess. But I really don't think pvp is a sole reason to avoid updating. We could have these features without going through the PvP problems though I think it'd be better if we update to it. And since 1.10 is out, I say let's just update to there xD

@OKNEM I would like to point out several things about 1.9.
Personally, I agree. I feel the cooldown is too long, but it can be shortened with a command block, even. I would like to point you to
    http://meepcraft.com/threads/what-to-change-in-1-9-release.57664/#post-581322

Shields are pointless, they break too easy. Therefore, they don't really affect PvP.

I agree many of these are pointless, but I focus on the ones that matter to PvP:
Instant damage, poison, slowness, and weakness. These affect PvP in the effect you can use a slowness arrow to ambush someone, extra damage per shot, another ambush/damage reduction tactic, and the ability to poison foes without hitting yourself too.

So, because you don't like something that can be changed with a command block, we should leave out everything else that is released in just these two updates?

Denied, we aren't currently worried about 1.10, we will update to 1.9.
