Some lgbt people fight too much and stuff it in people's face too much, like "I'm gay cater to me I'm special would you do the same for me if I wasn't straight"

My mom is the manager of a tourism board (basically she helps advertise this certain country and tells people what they could do in the country yada yada whatever) and she got a phone call from somebody interested at staying at a resort

this individual asked if it was "gay friendly" like what tf¿ my mom was like "uh... it's human friendly"

some lgbt people act like everybody and everything is discriminatory against them

That may be how it really is though. Those people may have experiences in the past that have conditioned them to act how they do. The individual that called your mom's work may have been refused service/kicked out of a resort in the past for his/her sexuality, so now they call in advance to ensure it doesn't happen again. We can't know the discrimation that a group of people or individual persons face on a daily basis.

some people see it as a slur, but historically it's not really, but there's no need for me to get into queer history here

also you're thinking of intersex, not unisex. feel free to do your own research but tread carefully young children.

Historically, we were all oppressed. Unlanded gentry used to not have a vote, Englishmen used to be slaves.

But in all reality, everyone is exactly the same as everyone else. Fight for equal rights, which I believe everyone should have, then do like the rest of us and shut up.

 

Becuase LGBTQ have been oppressed, they weren't allowed to be married, public sentiment, etc etc, its about celebrating how they have overcome the hate and stuff.

There is no straight pride month because there doesn't need to be and you guys should be lucky not to need one.
There is a pride month because many people don't know about the various sexualities/genders that exist, and like shain said,

It's actually questioning for sexual orientation (usually people who just don't know they're bi or gay yet). Though, I guess it can apply to gender... ?

Although, Asians were treated badly. Chinese and Japanese immigrants alike were discriminated against in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Angel Island was like Ellis Island but for people from Asia. It was run under pretty horrible conditions and people were not treated like Ellis Island when people came from Europe. Because of restrictions on Chinese immigrants, some immigrants were on the island for years before they could enter the US.

Of course, the kind of discrimination that Asians had was no where near as bad as the discrimination that blacks were going through at the time. Bad, but not as bad.

 

You make it sound like this is a common occurrence.

I think you're taking the wrong angle.

There is nothing wrong with Pride months, however, that applies equally to majority groups. There should be a white pride month, a straight pride month, etc.

There is nothing wrong with taking pride in your heritage.

 

That's the angle I'm taking. Shains seems to want a pride month for his group, because:

I don't personally see this as an attack against anyone other than Americans, nor do I think he is advocating for special treatment, nor do I think they, or anyone else is deserving of any special treatment. They are no better or worse than any other human on this planet.

But I do think any group, regardless, should exercise pride in themselves without being called a bigot, or any other derogatory names I won't repeat here, and I'm not sure that is possible. I think there should be a non-derogatory white history month, given there is a lot to celebrate and a lot of cautionary tales within that history.
