    How old are you? 14

    Location: USA Eastern

    Do you have Discord? Yes

When did you join Meepcraft? December 21st, 2012

Have you ever held a media position on another server? No

Introduction: Hi, my name is Nick most people know me as Spiderjel. I’ve been on Meepcraft for more than 6 years. On Meepcraft I made tons of memories that I will cherish forever. These memories were made by the community who has been nothing but nice and helpful to me. Now, the reason I am applying is that I want to give back to the community by helping its player base grow and constantly be providing new content. Another reason for me applying is that I love making videos and I have been for 2-3 years.

I have been playing with computers for as long as I can remember. After that, I started playing video games
. Which is why I play minecraft to this day. After university, I wish to become a computer engineer. I also like to fish, run track and play basketball.

Now I am still a little bit new to youtube but I think that if I was on media it would give me practice and benefit the server simultaneously. I enjoy making videos and I hope that my viewers enjoy watching them. My videos consist of mainly PG family friendly content. I am always inviting to new viewers and I frequently cater to all my viewing audience. Eventually, in the future I plan on utilising Meep as a medium to livestream on.

Now I would like to talk about my history as I did in my previous application. Like I said I was an “Unneeded Member” and used to “swear and spam”. I have changed but people keep looking into the past and never think about the future. Now if you have any issues or concerns just let me know and I will try to change them as best I can.

I would also like to address what happened with my helper application like I did in my last one. As I said I want to help the community and make meep better and better. But As I saw what I was being left I said to myself. I need to change and become a better person. I did but people wouldn’t stop looking back at what I did and all I want to say is I’ve changed. But after that, I went for media and I think this is how I need to help the community become better and strive. I’ve learned from my mistakes and I will build on them to make myself a better applicant.

Why should you be on our Media team? Determination - I play meep almost every day and will be adding video content to it. I will not stop, rest, or play until my work is done before the deadline. If I am denied I will make continuously create videos for meep.

Knowledge - I’ve been playing meep for over 6 years and know about every command there is. With this, I can create helpful videos to users who are trying to find commands or learn there way around.

Maturity - Over the past few months, I think I have matured enough to finally get a chance at media. In my past, I made jokes that were rude and offensive but I have changed since then.

Discord Activity - If I have ever dm’d you on discord you most likely know I’m on at all times. Like I said in my intro if you have any tips, criticism, or just want to play a game, msg me.

Explorative nature - I have been looking to do new things on my channel and branch out into multiple fields. I feel that this is a perfect medium for me to do that on. With media, I will be able to record amazing looking trailers, nice action shots, and breathtaking scenic views.

What is the main platform that players can go and publicly view your content on, and what is your typical content comprised of? Youtube -
    Nick1pillow

Twitch - Still working on it but will be a thing soon.

I can record anything that is Prefered/wanted.

Not to be rude but I've never duped or tried? It's to much work and just a terrible thing to do.

Yes but it's because the videos weren't too good due to my replay mod not working. But I fixed it and I think this is the 1.

Dude that was literally over a year ago its not a big deal anymore lolll

Anyways, -1, so long as you fail to show any signs of actual decent effort and maturity into your posts Im not going to bother

Plus your first video has been removed by the user, and your second video ia barely worth watching. Its a timelapse of a boomo game. It doesnt promote the game and quite honestly its boring.
Plus, another thing, your intro lasts 12 seconds and its one of thise really cheesy ones that just scream Im a 11 year old who makes mc videos.

Put some effort into it, get creative, make it interesting to watch.

so from the videos you posted the first one didn't work and the second one was just a time lapse..nothing extraordinary in my eyes. honestly you should try different things I mean I'm no media to judge but it's not up to par to what I've seen.

Agreed, if Spider wants that position, he needs to earn it by putting his recent effort in without using old ones.

I agree with Muunkee on this, your videos are not new, and the one I did try to see was removed. I recommend you contact polar or or other media staff when you can to see if they can give you a hand with creating your videos! I am a -1. Sorry.

I’m no media person nor a technology person but with a quick google search I could find my record button on my laptop & do just this.

    Meepcraft is full of new things, you have been around for a while, why didn’t you record;
    1) Christmas event, people racing.
    2) Achrow has been doing build events, you could have recorded a few of the builds & announced the winner.
3)Show different things on the server.
    Etc etc etc

Meep may not be the biggest server but I look at it as that small town that not many people know about but when you visit you never want to leave because you love the people/town. It may not be the biggest but its a fun community. In the boomo time lapse you didn’t even put Meepcraft in the video, no one would know what server to go to to play on it.

If I were you, I would quickly make a few better videos or ask staff if they can possibly pause your application (not review it within the viewing, so they don’t accept nor deny it right away). I’m not sure if they can do that or not but try it. Your application was good, it was the videos that killed it, they weren’t very interesting. You could have even recorded the boomo match & just had different music throughout (gets more intense when people die or something), you could have zoomed in on the current players & recorded when they’re one on one with another, you could have made it longer or had a big thing at the end announcing the winner (idk).

Also, your YouTube video intro is a little weak.

Make 2 or so more videos, really good ones & post them. You have good potential but I wouldn’t say you should be media just yet.

I give you a -1 with an opportunity to be a +1 if you post 1 or 2 really good videos. If you do that I’ll change my vote. Goodluck!

Also, for those of you posting rude comments, don’t put him down. Either vote and leave or leave a comment on how he can improve. He has potential, everyone does.

    Critique

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, your content is boring to watch and reeks of incompetence, both in the portrayal of visuals and the execution in software. The only visual skills I can identify portrayed in both included clips is the vertical rotation motion traditionally seen in a lot of scenic captures, however the method by which you executed it is pointless and an abhorrent way of introducing a perspective for the user, as it results in the "edging" of the vertical screen movement whereby each element displayed progressively within the video stretches.

In your first video, you included a "slideshow-esque" visual of the spawn area, which in theory could have worked decently, however the execution was terrible. The field of view is far too low to allow for each frame of the video to be fully rendered, given the speed at which you are traversing the environment, resulting in a stutter effect, which is highly visible when identifying objects present within a page and comparing them to he objects as they appear on screen (most noticeable at 0:14). I imagine this negative visual effect could also be influenced by your computer hardware and the optimized settings used for recording this footage.

As for video editing, the only skills I could identify used were split-motion usage once in the first video, and then a simple fade in and out effect for the rest of the content. You also included significant pauses within the video of still motion frames for no apparent reason, no timing with music, no approach on the next frame. I counted 22 seconds of still frame, which is ~= 40.741% of your video and if removed could have reduced your video to 32 seconds. Also, you included literally no audio effects, no saturation, frame bounce, or even a simple volume slider (music fade out for example).

I'm not even going to bother reviewing the second video as it is clear that all you did was record some gameplay and stick some music over the top of it. Something that anyone can do in 1 minute of drag-and-drop.

    Advice

    • Optimize your recording settings to work best with your system. If you have a low end computer system, don't try and push 1080P with frame buffer. Also, I highly advise that you increase the video bitrate of your recordings so as to avoid the stretched frame effect I previously talked about. If you are using OBS, this is where you can find it.
    • Increase the frame rate of your recordings. For the kind of visual effects you are trying to portray, 60FPS is a must. 30FPS (as seen in the video) looks blotchy and occasionally incomprehensible due to the frame lag. If you are using OBS, frame rate and other general video settings can be found here.
    • Improve your skill at using video editing software. From inspection of the content you have provided, it is clear to see that you lack basic knowledge in video editing, which could be easily rectified with some YouTube tutorials. As for the software itself, it may be that you do no possess any video editing software, either due to the costs involved, or general incompetence, and you could just be using the basic YouTube video editor (thinking about it sends shivers down my spine). If you lack the means to get premium video editing software such as Adobe Premier, there are a few free options out there such as VSDC. I personally haven't used it, although it seems relatively simple to use and learn, and acts as an effective video editing tool. There are a plethora of YouTube tutorials dedicated to teaching people how to use it so I recommend checking it out.

Thank you for reading, I hope that you are able to learn and improve, given the feedback I have shown.
