    Hello Meepers,

    So around a week ago I put up a thread for ideas for custom items that had effects and there are some great ideas here. The thread is going to have a list of ideas, which I will edit if more appear, and a poll for which ones you guys want. In addition to the items I also want to work on how players will receive these items as it is not critical to abide by EULA regulations.

    Mob Ball:
    This would be a slime ball or magma cream that allows a player to store a mob and move it around from server to server or simply location to location. To have some limiting factor this should be a cheap one time use item or a medium cost item that can only store one mob at a time. This should mainly be achievable through custom crafting recipes as well as the potential to get it from voting/donating.

    Example Crafting Recipe:
    [IMG]

    Mob Enhancement:
    So this idea has a couple variants so I will go through some of the examples I thought up.

    Villager:
    First, villager trading enhancement which could allow for the addition of random trades for vote notes and or spawners as well as other rare items. This would use the base trading system and try to add new trades into a villager or replace the trades a villager has into new custom ones. The new or replaced trades would be randomly selected from a set that is defined in a config.

    Example Trade:
    [IMG]
    The modified trade might look like something like a half stack of paper and 10 diamond blocks which might yield a feed note. As normal villager trades do have a range it these should also have a range so this example trade might have a range from 25 paper and 10 diamond blocks to 40 paper and 17 diamond blocks. At the same time any numbers in between would be possible and any combination of variable numbers should be possible.

    Horses:
    The horse variant for this would look a lot simpler in that you could enhance a horse to have more move speed or jump higher etc.

    Again these items should be craft able with a restriction which would be that some of the items involved in the crafting recipe should be either donor only or only acquirable through vote/donation.

    Example Crafting Recipes:
    Villager:
    [IMG]
    *note* The egg would be a blank egg that is a reward from voting/donating or purchasable in a shop.

    Horse:
    [IMG]
    *note* Yet again the saddle should be a custom item from voting/donating or purchasable in the shop although it doesn't need to be if the horse modifications are balanced.

    Baconator:
    With my recent activities with pwarp food I through of a way to incorporate the easiness of fly into a item that doesn't ruin the demand of food and at the same time could be a donor perk. You might be asking what is this wonderful item and what does it do. Well its the Baconator and it feeds you. So the way it would work if you craft this custom item and then you add charges to it which will later feed you. The feed action would happen when it is in your hand and it would slowly add hunger bars back if it has enough charge on it. The charges would be derived from how many foot related items you have given it.

    Scenario:
    Player has a Baconator with 3 charges and he is missing 5 hunger bars. He holds the Baconator which consumes a charge a second and adds one bar of hunger back for him. After three seconds the Baconator runs out of charges and stop working. The player then puts 100 more charges onto the item meaning it will restore 100 bars of hunger before it stops working again.

    Explaining the Charge System:
    So the item would start with zero charges which means it won't restore any hunger. The player needs to add items to it by surrounding it in a crafting menu with the desired item and quantity. The end result from crafting would be the Baconator with a new number of charges.

    Forumla to determine new charges:
    Cn = New Number of charges
    Q = Quantity
    F = Amount of hunger bars gained by specific food
    Co = Old number of charges

    Cn = Q*F + Co

    Example of calculation:
    The player is adding 10 pieces of beef to the baconator for charges which starts with 20 charges.
    Q = 10
    F = 8 (Amount of hunger bars added by 1 beef)
    Co = 20

    Cn = 10*8 + 20
    Cn = 100

    Example Crafting of Baconator:
    [IMG]

    Example Adding Charges:
    [IMG]

    P.S. I will add more if I figure out more.

    So storing a mob. Would this allow peaceful mobs? Not really sure that it makes a whole lot of sense, but it looks cool. This and the baconator. That way you can put tons of amounts of food into one piece of food (I think that's what I'm inferring).

    I like custom crafting recipes but fear this isn't possible without client side mods having to be installed alongside. Worth the check imo.

    Baconator, yisssss.

    Custom crafters are possible in vanilla (found that out after my brother made a vanilla mod that creates Elytras).

    However, they can be rather difficult, and tedious to make. I feel this overcomplicates the process of re-enabling perks, personally. There are far easier (and EULA compliant) ways to add perks back.

    I can make this right now without client side mods. Bukkit has had support for custom crafting since 2014.

    Crafting villagers should be expensive so the blank egg should be a hard to earn reward.

    Now that the amount of work has been explained, I would like to vote on each idea individually.
    • Mob ball
    +1 This would be incredibly useful. However, I disagree with the suggested limitation. The idea of spending 4 diamonds to move a mob once is absurd. Perhaps it could be made of items that are relatively worthless for other things, such as slime balls, string, and clay balls?

    • Mob Enhancement
    -1 Even costing diamonds, this will become so overpowered. It would have to be nerfed so terribly, it wouldn't even be worth adding. Here is what will happen:
    1. Random player gets said "voting item"
    2. Rich player buys it off of the other player
    3. Rich player buys more and more of these, and has a room full of said villagers
    4. Market for notes would crash, making the last suggestion (Baconator) worthless
    5. Entire process gets nerfed, making it worthless

    • Baconator
    -1 Firstly, this seems to contradict suggestion #2, which could give feed notes. Besides that, this item is no better than having to carry food around. Sure, it decreases the amount of food you need, but isn't food easy to grind? The item costs a good deal, too. Using the suggested recipe, the gold costs 8,200 Meebles. Sure, it might not seem like that much, but then think what happens if you die mining, or anywhere. There goes another 8,200, all because you tried saving inventory space.
    In addition, it really isn't any more convenient. The player still has to hold the item, and that's exactly why people loved /feed so much; it was something they didn't have to think about.

    Everyone appreciates the sheer amount of good ideas @reggles44 , but it would be easier to add perks back in with these ideas:
    Also, we do not want to see like a heavily modded server. Yes, we have plugins that allow Towns and such, but few items that you can't even make with /give commands.

    So first off the crafting recipes I posted are just examples of what could be done, the actual crafting recipe would need to reflect the usability of an item. As for most of the perks that you quoted they said we couldn't have them. Not that we implemented them in the wrong way but simply they couldn't be donor perks so adding them back would simply move people away from donating and more towards grinding for level or quests.

    Oh and these items aren't heavily modified it's simply items with lore that distinguishes it from other items. This allows plugins to check for that lore and do specific actions based on that. Not server intensive at all.

    I love all three of these ideas. They are all fantastic and the baconator especially will make my mining trips more profitable because it is a pain to have to run back to my house to get more food.

    Mojang did not come because we had these perks; they came because these perks were given only to those using hard currency. The EULA allows there to be perks for donors, so long as they can be obtained in other ways.

    Perks like /fix are allowed, but they must be obtainable without using hard currency. That is what the EULA is all about. It makes commands available to everyone without paying hard currency.

    We don't even need plugins for custom crafters. So long as we update the server as a whole to 1.9, command blocks are infinitely more powerful. Someone even created a way to add the Aether in vanilla 1.9.

    Tell me, how would these items not move people away from donating, too? Your suggestion is for people to donate/vote to get the item, but see the following examples for why this would not work.
    They would not be available only for donating or voting, because this breaks the EULA.

    You are allowed to sell in-game items so long as they don’t affect gameplay
    We don’t mind you selling items in game, but they must be purely cosmetic. Pets, hats, and particle effects are OK, but swords, invincibility potions, and man-eating pigs are not. We want all players to be presented with the same gameplay features, whether they decide to pay or not.
    https://mojang.com/2014/06/lets-talk-server-monetisation/

    Isn't this why /fly was removed? Even though you could obtain fly notes by voting, it still was considered to break the EULA.

    This leads to only one option: they would have to be purchasable in /warp shop, too. So how would it be any better than people grinding jobs? The people with all the money (those who had the most perks before perks were removed), will be right back on top, now angry they lost the perks they paid hard currency for.

    I'm sorry did you just suggest the server use command blocks for server functions or that players be given command blocks?

    So wouldn't that be the for best people who paid hard money get the perks instantly while everyone else has to work more for them?

    I understand that fly was removed because it changed functionality of the game for paid users but the only thing in this suggestion that does that is the mod modification. Being able to store and move a mob isn't changing functionality it changes ease. At the same time the baconator doesn't change the way food is used it simply is a perk of ease to allow players a better time using vanilla mechanics.

    My apologies for the misinterpretation, I was referring to the ability of command blocks to create mods, as most assume you need plugins for everything.
    Explain why in the world the majority of the server would donate if they did not get some kind of reward. Whether we admit it or not, the vast multitude of those who purchase ranks do not do it for "the good of the server." They do it to save themselves work. If you want to play any game for free, you generally have to put more work in.
    That's the issue, it would require a special item (with lore) to craft, which you suggest could be purchased for hard currency. Yet it would break the EULA if it was unavailable for those using only soft currency. Therefore, the exact same people will be in charge, no matter what happens. So might as well make people happy by giving them automatic perks that can be earned, or purchased as part of the shop (using hard currency).

    The Baconator is just a more compact version of carrying food around, which quite a few people find tedious. We want to be mining for diamonds and building, not refilling our hunger bar.
    On the contrary, it does chance functionality. Imagine going to the Wild, and exploring around. Coming to a grassland, you find a herd of horses. Thanks to the brand new item, you transfer this to Beta, and sell it. Then the market for horses changes, because there is now a far greater supply than demand.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jun 22, 2019, Original Post Date: May 14, 2016 ---
    Completed, catching mobs has been added as a hunter and farmer job perk. Mob enhancements are not coming, and /feed is now a farmer and fisherman perk.
