Make underscores display in chat

In my personal experience as a meeper, I find that when people use underscores in their usernames or town names, it gets a little confusing sometimes (and i would imagine this confusion is even greater for new players).

here's an example. i push tab and don't recognize RandomPlayer235, so i do /t add RandomPlayer235 to invite them to my town, but they are already in the town of "Sample Town", so I /t Sample town to check out their town and it says "sample not registered". Then i realize it was supposed to be an underscore there and have to retype my command.

is it just me or do others think we should at least display the underscore in the chat so people (especially new players) know what is supposed to be there instead of guessing when it is and isn't an underscore.

 

+1 It took me so long to figure this out. Like months. I only ever found out because I had underscores in my name.

 

+1 but then how would we use spaces in things like plot and town names? But, I would be happy no longer being marshy 88

 

plot and town names don't allow spaces anyway. nothing would change except the displaying of the underscores.

(maybe there could be a toggle able option to enable/disable the display of underscores per user...

 

Here's how I work around that:

Whenever I add a new resident, I add a sign on their house that says "Residence of XXX." Always double-check the name, and include underscores. Then, whenever there's a problem, you have a sign to record who has owned the plot (if they left town after griefing), and their exact IGN

Also, they do allow "spaces." Try naming your town's spawn with /plot set name Town_Spawn. When others walk on it, they see "Town Spawn."

But to use spaces you would use an underscore, so how would you name a plot something like Marsh Manor

I did it by doing marsh_manor, and using underscore removal, it made a space, remove underscore as a space and there's no way to display spaces on names of plots

 

they could tweak it so you can use actual spaces..

/plot set name "Marsh Manor" could name the plot Marsh Manor (with a space)

 

That's what I'm kind of clouding but it's a lot of work. Really any work for the techs is a lot

 

Denied, we feel it is unneeded.
