Murder

Murder is a minigame similar to clue, but more hand on. There can be up to 16 players, at least 5 to start a game. There are three characters: Bystander, Bystander with hidden weapon, murderer. If you are a bystander, your objective is to 1. Gather 5 emeralds that randomly generate, and 2. Find out the murderer and kill him.

The 5 emeralds will automatically be traded for a wooden hoe, or the gun. You have to be careful when you have a gun, because shooting a bystander decreases your chances of becoming the murderer (you lose karma).

If you are the murderer, your objective is to use your wooden sword to kill everyone. Every hit is an instant KO and the sword has the ability to be thrown but can only be picked up by the murderer. If the murderer doesn't come to pick up the sword, after 30 seconds it will come back to the murderer by itself. As the murderer, there is a different use for emeralds, you can swap 5 emeralds to switch your identity, and this will make you harder to figure out.

Other info: Only bystanders can have a wooden hoe (gun), and they can be upgraded if five more emeralds are collected. Hunger does NOT occur, but bystanders have 3 hunger bars (just enough that they can only walk) and the murderer has full hunger. The murderer can sprint, which makes him easier to recognize. A hit from the gun is an instant KO. And upgrades go up one hoe level (wooden to stone, to iron, etc) An emerald will spawn every 5 seconds all around the map(s). The upgraded hoes will be better, for example. The stone hoe will be easier to shoot because after a shot it reloads a lot faster.

I've played this on Garry's Mod many times, although I'm not sure how well it would work on Minecraft...

There is a server it is on (where I found it), and it works great there.

 

This is a good game, but you sometimes get players who don't care about karma just killing everyone. If this game is implemented, RDMing (Random Murdering) will need to be bannable in the game.

I've played a minecraft version of Trouble in Terrorist town (which is similar to this game) and some detectives (who are supposed to kill the murders) think that they need to kill everyone.

Another problem is karma bating, in which a bystanders pretends to be the murder, so that people kill him and loose karma. This will also need to be against the rules.

A final way people cheat is by the murderer and an bystander to skype and work together, which is against the idea of the game.

 

I've never seen someone who purposely kills people, something that is rare but massively annoying is when the murderer is teamed with someone and they trick you to get you killed

 

I've played mc versions of this game and bystanders will RDM a lot trying to kill the murderer.

Also, Karma is for TTT. If you shoot someone, you lose the gun… I know from experience.

 

Another problem, you can /msg someone in the game and tell them who is the killer. If you get killed by the murderer that is...

This could be removed by anyone who knows how to read code, easily

another server have made a bit more staple version, called sabotage

 

+ / - the various ways to cheat would have to be disabled (/msg, certain donor perks, etc.). Also, wouldn't having guns also require modded clients or downloads?

On a side note, it's pretty easy to just go to the server with the minigame on it......

if people are on ts it's the same thing..... I don't see why this should be illegal....

 

If Meep's coders are good with coding, or good at copying sethbling, making guns are easily done

 

Maybe have name tags disabled, and force everyone to be a certain skin? (Don't know if this is possible)

No, it could be like the Quake plugin.

I've played an exact replica of the GMod Murder with max karma for about 2 years. Will bring more attention to our server.
There's also disguises so we don't know who's who. The actual game brings you to a black screen telling your role, then putting you in the game. OR a plugin automatically tells you privately.

 

Halo has guns...why couldn't this?
