Staff Applications should not be public

The staff applications should be public...
1. That allow the rest of us to be able to see who is staff material, and to accept the new member.
2. All staff applicants should be aware that there always going to be someone who don't like and gime them -1 or someone who wants them to improve as a person and in-game.

This is a community not just a staff server, we all should give our opinion.

 

I have not suggesting that the ability to comment is removed. However for the sake of a harmonious community and to avoid unnecessary conflict I am suggesting they are made private

 

Then how can we comment if they are private? That makes no sense... Community will always have to decide who we want as staff or not. This discussion is driving to unnecessary conflict actually. We don't decide whether we want it to be private or not, staff wants to keep it public it will be public.

 

Not exactly the same idea, but what if comments were made private, allowing people to view the application and comment, but not see other people's comments (outside of staff)?
This allows players to give their input without being swayed by what other people post, and provides a better indication on what those who have posted are thinking.

Kind of like a heads down hands up vote so you just don't go with the majority to seem cool or liked.

Or maybe responses where anonymous to everyone but staff?

As a personal note; I always viewed the comments as a tool to judge a person's tolerance, and patience. When looking to accept people, I always checked how they handled the criticism, and trolls.

The core concern I have with the change is you remove that particular vetting process. I'd much rather see a player having a meltdown in the application process, rather than on the job, when we find out they can't handle the trolls.

If we have an abundance of staff, or the ability to instantly remove a player from staff it would be less of a concern, however, the server generally lacks that. Staff is in short supply, and it generally takes over a week to remove a player from staff. A staff that gets trolled, and loses their patience is a damaging part of the machine.

 

The applicant would be able to view comments and reply to them so that only the person quoted can see the response (along with staff).

 

I really, really like this. I honestly don't have much else to say on that.
