This is a long shot

How would the mutes be recorded? Would this be like ban history except mute history? Would they both be displayed at once? How much spam is too much, and you actually deserve a ban?

Yeah, there should be a listing with ban history etc.

I feel like the spam punishments should be changed to incorporate this idea, makes more sense to mute the person before you ban them.

 

There wouldn't be, a perm mute would be the equivalent to a perm ban for spam

 

I like this idea, but I feel like it would cause a lot of confusion.
Staff may get confused with mutes and bans. Which to use, who deserves what, etc.

If a way to organize and differentiate bans from mutes is made, then +1.

 

I actually have an idea on how to display Kicks/Bans/Mutes and etc, I saw it done/currently being used on another server. I think I'll bring it up with another staff member over Skype or Teamspeak though, since I don't want linking it to be considered advertising or anything. (Either way I don't want to post other servers' here banable or not, this is Meep. I'd like our community to stay ours. heheh. ) If you'd like to see it, I can message you on Skype too. Just let me know.

Anyways, definitely a +1 on this. I've had this in mind since the day I joined. Tempbanning someone from the server for even an hour can be quite excessive for such little "crimes". Spamming, cursing or harassing other people could be mute material (chat-related.), and things such as hacking, or 'physically' harassing members would be temp-ban. I'd consider Advertisements and continuous offenses to be Perma-ban material.

 

How would they play the server if they were perm muted? Would this be in all chats? If this were in all chats, then the point of Meep would pretty much be ruined for them. There's not too much fun to parkour or living in a town or anything like that when you can't even talk to another person, not to mention being difficult.

Just because you play on a server you're muted on doesn't mean that that server is just like meep.
I do believe that server is a pvp server that does not require talking to join a town, advertise sales and shops, etc, etc.
It's pvp. Most of that chat is used for "Noob" "Loser" and other petty insults.

Meepcraft revolves around community. Chat is constantly filled. People talk to their friends or join in conversations or arguments all the time. Chat is usually necessary for people to join a town (and continue to be active in the town) - making people feeling welcome and wanting to stay. If you own a joint skyblock (and ofc, don't have their skype), then how are you supposed to communicate with them? Have your own shop? How can you advertise? As for PVP, you couldn't ask those questions either. I found very, very few things to be enjoyable on meep without interacting with others in positive and talkative ways, and I know quite a few people would agree. Perm mutes would drive people away just as much as perm bans do.

There's a world of difference between just PVP servers and a community-based server. Please take that into consideration before assuming no one gets bored repeatedly rapidly clicking .

 

PVP is mostly arguing tbh..

Anyways there's a community here too- you don't really know that lol. We talk to friends all the time or just converse in the chat, the factions server too
