Did I get you?
This thread is an unofficial guide on becoming ready to apply for helper, and whether you are ready or not.
If you catch yourself thinking "Am I ready to become helper?", or "Should I apply to become helper?"... just stop there. Let me be the first to tell you, you're not ready. You need to be confident in your skills, and your possible ability to moderate this sever. However, their is a difference between confident, over confident, and arrogance.
Here is a prime example of arrogance/over confidence (I'm sorry if you take offence to me using you as an example L33t_H4wk)If you say something like this on your application... you're not ready to be a helper, and 99.9% of the time your application is going to be denied.
Just FYI, never... ever... make a thread asking "Should I apply for helper". If you would like to find out what you could do to better yourself, ask your friends, or even the community what you could work on. Don't say "Hey broskie! How you doin'? What do you think I could do to improve my chances of being a mod?", or "What could I do to better myself for a moderator position?". Just keep it simple "What are some of my flaws you guys think I could work on?", make sure if you do this that you are ready to hear some cold hard truth, and be willing to accept it.
Ok, so lets get into the application process.
4/5/14
Throughout your entire application you need to keep it formal... correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Common things that I see are: "plz", "thx", "I like 2" or "I did this 4", and faces like XD ect... I really prefer not to see faces in your applications. I also like to see applicants refrain from using words like "help", "helping", and "helpful". I see too many applications filled with these words. "I like to help people, by helping, because I am helpful", while no one really says it like that example... that's basically their application in a nutshell. Their used to be a rule (one that I wish was still here) stating that you are not allowed to use: help, helpful, and helping. Also... do NOT put polls on your application.
Also refrain from over using/using out of context words like "Like", like I know you all like to use the word "like", but like seriously it like fills the entire application up with like... "like". It is like.. really annoying.
See what I did there?
Now, be sure you are filling your application up with good information. Don't put in mumbojumbo about the magical purple flying monkey ninjas of doom that tried to kill you that one time. Keep it all relevant to Meepcraft and moderation. Also do not make promises you cannot keep like "I will stahp all teh greifers!"
"Hello friends! My name is Madison or June, call me whatever you prefer. I spend a lot of my time here on Meepcraft and enjoy it as well. Other than being on the computer I like to go snowboarding and play guitar. I have been doing both of those things for a very long time and hope to improve my skills even more. I try to expose myself to lots of different activities. Knowing how to do a variety of things lets you be smarter and a more well-rounded person. Along with computers, although I’m not that good at it, I like to design little websites with fun buttons and colors. I’m trying to learn more languages but it’s a pain. Learning Java has definitely helped me understand Minecraft and the server a lot more." -June lawnchaired
Now, this is a perfect example of this topic. Though Madison talked about snowboarding and guitar playing, she kept it relevant. How? One may ask. She went on to describe her drive to better the skills she already has, and her drive to learn new things. This is completely relevant to becoming a moderator, if you wish to become a moderator you need to be willing to learn new things and improve on what you may already know, some of which may include: people skills, typing, spelling, grammar, punctuation (So you can continue to communicate with the community), moderator commands, rules, ban lengths, and the list goes on and on.
If you have past experience moderating servers that is a good addition, though again you want to keep it relevant to Meepcraft, and you don't want to advertise.
Bad example: I haz been Adzmin on 24 PMC servers and I is gud at moderwaitor commandz, one of teh servers I has been staff on iz prettykittycatMC.cat. (Not a real server as I am sure you can tell)
Again I am going to quote Madison here:
"I’ve been playing on Meepcraft technically since April. I came on the server and left within minutes because there were far too many people. The spam was too much for me seeing that I was used to co-owning a server that had 30 people max."-Junelawnchaired
Once again she kept this very relevant while explaining two vital things. One is how long she has been playing, and the other is past experience. She didn't advertise, and kept it very relevant. (Kudos on such a grate application Junelawncharied, I hope you don't mind if I use these bits and pieces)
A few other things you should talk about is your work ethic, dedication, why they should specifically pick you over other applicants (don't say "cause I am better"), tell us what makes you unique and different. I also strongly believe in making your application two weeks in advance, peer editing it, and looking at it once a day to work out kinks and make it better. Remember to follow the format, and the forum rules while applying. Be sure you accept criticism very well, expect bad replies, and be creative!
People like to see long applications, though I disagree... if you make it too long you will start to repeat yourself and talk about jibberjabber. Kept it short (but not too short) and to the point, be direct.
EDIT: One last thing... don't make your application boring, people wont want to read it. Make it interesting, give it a good title, and start out by drawing your readers in.
(Application break down, introduction.)
4/7-8/14
Quite obviously the Introduction of the application is for you to introduce yourself, and more importantly this is your best time to be creative. Most people start out by saying "Hello, my name is blah or you can call me blah, I joined Meep on blah date." I challenge you to do different. It gets old and boring to see the same thing over and over, you need your application to be different and stand out over the rest. Again you need to draw you readers in, and make them want to read it.
I will be making an introduction for myself as if I were applying for moderator. Keep in mind that if I were to be applying I would have made this two weeks before hand, and would be able to work out any kinks or add anything I would need.
Introduction: Almost two years ago on a Minecraft server quite like this, an ancient creature named the "PhoenixPuppy" (also known as Richard) suddenly appeared in its spawn. The PhoenixPuppy eventually got to know the people and laws of the kingdom known as Meepcraft. Soon after, the PhoenixPuppy was granted the title of "Moderator", and would eventually stand at the right hand of the all mighty creator, fuzzlr. PhoenixPuppy guarded the great kingdom for many seasons; however like all who came before him he had his time, and needed to leave. Though before he left, he vowed that one day he would return, and guard the kingdom once again... then he burst into flames and turned to dust in the wind.
Breaking it down:
Introduction: Almost two years ago (This is me stating when I joined, though I am unsure of the exact date) on a Minecraft server quite like this, an ancient creature named the "PhoenixPuppy" (also known as Richard) (Explaining who I am) suddenly appeared in its spawn. The PhoenixPuppy eventually got to know the people and laws of the kingdom known as Meepcraft. Soon after, the PhoenixPuppy was granted the title of "Moderator" (The more important past experience), and would eventually stand at the right hand (This was to show the rank I eventually gained) of the all mighty creator, fuzzlr. PhoenixPuppy guarded the great kingdom for many seasons; however like all who came before him he had his time, and needed to leave (This was to show that I resigned, and was not demoted). Though before he left, he vowed that one day he would return, and guard the kingdom once again (This is just pretty much saying I am here to apply for moderator again)... then he burst into flames and turned to dust in the wind.
Sorry if this isn't the best, I thought it was a pretty creative idea, though it has been forever since I have had to do one of these.
(Why should you be helper/mod)
4/10/14
The "Why should you be helper/mod" portion of the application is your time to shine. This is where you explain and tell us your best qualities. This is where you will get your chance to tell us what is so great about you, what would make you a good helper, why we should pick you, and more importantly why we should pick you over other applicants.
(Examples of skills, you shouldn't just copy these and say I am good at them, you need to be honest)
-Ability to communicate with the community, younger and older.
-Understanding of the commands
-Ability to work in a team environment
-Having the ability to remain non-bias
And the list goes on and on, anything that you think is relevant, put it down.
WHAT MAKES YOU STICK OUT? I cannot stress the importance of this statement. You need to make people look at your application and say "Wow! Now this is a guy I would like to moderate this server." In the application process "Okay" isn't good enough, you need to be outstanding. Again you need to be confident (Not over confident though) with your abilities, you need to appeal to the player base... but more importantly you need to appeal to yourself.
I've had a few people message me about their applications, they've asked me "Is this good?", "What do you think I need to fix?". I am all for peer editing, and I am very glad these guys have messaged me about this applications (Sorry if I haven't been as much help as you may have hoped, I've been quite busy), though in the end it is their decision to post it. You guys need to have your application appeal to yourself most of all, not just to me, or bobthebuilder. You need to look at this application and say "I love it". Once you are confident in your application, then you are ready to post it.
Most importantly, you need to be honest with us and yourself. You need to be 100% honest on your application, and you need to seem believable.
Application breakdown: Weaknesses
4/11/14 1/11/15
So this is a bit late... just by a few days you know.
So lets get into the weakness then, shall we?
Weaknesses is a very important part of your application, as with any part it can make or break it. You need to spend a lot of time, and thought into the weakness portion. Ask yourself the obvious question "What are my weaknesses?". Don't just look at another application and say well uhm I think maybe it could be maturity, just think long and hard... everyone has a big weakness.
This would be my weakness portion if I were to apply:
One of my biggest weaknesses is my tendency to blow things out of proportion. Ever so often I may see a post, thread, ban appeal, ban, kick, or just little things especially within the staff team I will dislike. As you all know from my infamous rant threads. Most people view them as little things, for me it's not like that. This is not just a problem I can just say "stop", however it is something I can keep under control or to myself as a staff member. I know how and when I need to set the example as a staff member.
The weakness do not stop there... I have a fairly bad memory. Never could figure out why, been like that these past 5ish years. I can be sweeping a floor and use the restroom, and next you know I am mopping the floor and the broom is still where I left it. I know lots of people have bad memories, however this can be worse than some others I have seen. However if I am able to be set on one task I can stick with it until the end. That is also a good reason why we do modreqs and such one at a time. Again, it's not something that I can just say "im working on it", however I can promise that if I notice it beginning to largely effect to moderate, I will resign my position.
What I personally like to see:
At least two of them
in my opinion five or six would be a bit much.
Roughly the same length I have above for each.
At the end of each one, put what you are doing to fix the issue. Or what you can do about the issue to keep it under control.
Dont just say I can be immature because (X) some times.
Anways, that's about it for tonight. Have a good night everyone, hope you enjoy.
I will try to add to this at least every other day, hopefully I can continue to add a lot of tips here. I will (If I find time/remember) be editing and working on this tomorrow to add some extra tips, I'll be sure to bump it when I'm done each day. If you guys have any questions, or suggestions for topics for me to talk about please feel free to post them, and I will make a "Coming soon" list.
Have a great day guys
Coming soon:

Introduction:
Hello! I think most people know me, or at least know of me, by now. However, I may seem unfamiliar to some. For that reason, please allow me to introduce myself.
My full in game name is BooBear1227, but most people call me Boo. My life has many different aspects which include hanging around Meep, being a computer science graduate / IT professional, and volunteering. I enjoy volunteering as a summer camp counselor and for the Ronald McDonald House charities. In a previous lifetime - before some concussions and bad joints - I was an active athlete participating in sports such as cheerleading, soccer, and volleyball. In my spare time, I enjoy indoor rock climbing, hiking, biking, and running. I also love the occasional book, movie, or podcast. ( I am always open to suggestions for new content! )
Why should you be Helper?
Meep Experience
I joined Meep at the age of sixteen back in mid-March 2013 after my brother’s friend recommended the server to us. My brother and I played on the same account for a couple of weeks until I got my own account on a rainy Tuesday. In my time on Meep, I have served as a town staff member in four different towns. I am grateful for each of the unique experiences and look back with fond memories. I am most proud of my dedication to Ezri and Dax between May 2013 and June 2016 because I stuck with the same small team for 3 long years to help build towns that would remain a legacy for many other players. At the release of Gamma, I lost my Towny mojo and took time off from Meep to focus on my education. Seven years later from my first day on Meep, I am twenty-three years old and still hanging around this place because this community changed my life. I have met so many life-long friends here that continue to amaze and inspire me to continue to grow to be a better person.
I returned to Meep about six weeks ago looking to rejoin the community. I was thrilled to be welcomed back with open arms. The town of Legion reached out to me when I came back, and I was ecstatic to join a town and help push it off the ground. Through my dedication and work ethic in helping with some random preparation tasks for the release of Extreme, I rose from a resident up to co-mayor. I now happily help run Legion on a day to day basis.
Previous Staff Experience
In November 2013, I applied for Helper and had the amazing opportunity to serve as a staff member in different ranks with different responsibilities until January 2015. In May 2014, I was promoted from Mod to SuperMod because of my leadership and dedication to the team. I remained a SuperMod until November 2014 when I had been respectfully demoted back to Mod because of inactivity due to a health condition. Although I was disappointed about the demotion, I remained on the staff team to continue to provide the support that was needed at the time. I resigned from the team in January 2015 because of school, family, and medical issues. I then made a short return during the end of my senior year of high school after I resolved the school and family issues. I reapplied for Helper in March 2015 and remained on the team until I went away to summer camp in June 2015.
Although it was a rollercoaster, I enjoyed my time as a staff member. I met some of the most amazing people that I still call some of my best friends. Because of Meep Staff: I learned the difference between leadership styles, the importance of communication, collaboration of a team of more than 30 people, and being able to problem solve on the flip of a dime.
I want to continue to help make Meep a welcoming and safe place where people know they are welcome to come and escape the real world, even if it’s just to pop by for a few minutes to say hello and catch up with some old friends.
Real Life Experiences
I am very passionate about education, the outdoors, and technology / programming. From a young age, I have been dedicated to being in service of others and serving the multitude of communities that surround me in life. The best vocation I could be offered is a combination of the three. The dream is to work with children and teach them about the beauty and life lessons nature has to offer while inspiring them to use technology to better advance the world - keeping in mind both positive and negative consequences.
My passion for education and the outdoors comes from my summers of being a summer camp counselor. In the summer of 2011, I became a counselor-in-training and have since dedicated parts of every summer to volunteering at resident summer camps. Last summer, my camp name was retired as a sign of appreciation and recognition for the immeasurable amount of time, energy, and hard work I put in to make camp a special place for many others. Because of camp, I learned how to work well with others even when personalities clash, how to work with children, good leadership skills, and creating fun and memorable experiences for different types of people at different ability levels.
My passions for education and technology/programming come from my technical training as a computer scientist / IT professional and my time as a computer science tutor for my university. As a tutor, I enjoyed helping students reach the “aha” moment in understanding a concept. I often had returning clients because of the level of support I was able to provide them from my knowledge of the courses and the general field. From my time as a tutor, I strengthened my patience and communication skills from explaining concepts in multiple ways until the student felt comfortable with the concept enough to not only pass the class but to understand the concept so they would be successful in the future.
Overall, my interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills will benefit the team and help guide my decisions.
What are your weaknesses?
Previous Staff Experience
Although having previous experience as staff can definitely help in this process, it can also hinder it because of my perception of the “way it was before.” A lot has changed since I was last a staff member, and it is why I have hesitated to post this application. I remember quite a bit of how it was previously, but the server and community has changed and evolved. The staff team expectations, rule guidelines, and structure has changed drastically since June 2015. To combat this weakness, I am trying to take time to re-learn the server, the new rules, and the new community. While I want to remember all from the past and continue that legacy, it is often best to live in the moment and to look forward to the future. I am taking this opportunity to look at this from a new perspective with a fresh pair of eyes.
“Use it or lose it”
In the almost five year separation, I have lost most of the muscle memory commands and on the spot thinking when it comes to completing modreqs and answering questions quickly. In recent years, the team also added the moderation of a discord server, which is something that will be completely new to me. Due to my time away from the team, I would need to be retrained on new expectations and procedures. However, I am a very quick learner and I am sure that it would not take too long for muscle memory to kick in.
Communication
I would say almost everyone struggles with communication during some point in their lives. I have learned that you are often not communicating enough until you feel you are overcommunicating. My personal weakness is with letting others know when I am struggling and / or need help with a situation before it becomes out of hand. My previous demotion from SuperMod came from a perceived lack of inactivity due to an error on my part to better communicate what I was struggling with in life. I am constantly working on this weakness by trying to reach out sooner rather than later when I need help, feel overwhelmed, or do not understand a concept.
Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: This application is something I have thought about for a few weeks now since rejoining the community about six weeks ago. While I have been encouraged by a few members in the community to re-apply, I took the time to really think over the decision because it impacts not only myself but others as well. I now personally feel ready to put this application up and to hopefully return to the staff team.
In addition, it has come up on a few other applications that it seems some people are just applying because of the copious amounts of spare time people now have due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am not applying because I have copious amounts of spare time. I am currently still working from home, full time at 40+ hours per week. Meep is a place I am genuinely investing my free time into because of the relationships and enjoyment it has brought back into my life. I have received so much from this community and want to be able to give back as much as I can to the place that feels like another home.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you for spending the time to read my Helper application. I look forward to reading your feedback. I welcome any constructive criticism so that I may continue to work on myself.

Dear Meepcraft Staff:
With the opening of Revamp and Towny Extreme, many veteran players such as ourselves who have played on this server during its prime are coming back and having loads of fun playing minecraft again and reconnecting with all of their old friends. Before this server was a mini game server, us ancient players remember how fun a minimalistic towny/pvp server could be with a strong and consistent community/playerbase. Our current town (Exegol) consists of players that have been involved with the server ever since the beginning of 2012, a short time before the server went from a 10-40 player community run on Fuzzlr’s laptop to an immense gaming community with thousands of players everyday. A lot of us have also had the privilege of being a part of the wonderful staff team throughout the rise of Meepcraft. Collectively, as some of the oldest, most devoted players you will find on this server, my townmates and I have decided to put together a post that includes our thoughts and opinions on the revamp as well as the issues that we have noticed after playing on here again since the start of the revamp.
We also want to thank everyone on the staff team that spent so much time fighting to keep the server alive prior to the revamp. It was your decisions and actions that caused this new influx of players coming back. We know the crazy amount of hours and dedication that you have put in to keep the server alive and we can speak for the whole server that we really appreciate you guys. We also know that moderating a server is a lot of work and requires you to make many tough decisions. A great staff member is able to be a leader, connect with the playerbase, and understand where to use proper discretion when punishing players who break the rules. They are also able to be introspective and honest with themselves when they make mistakes.
However, we also know we can speak for a majority of the server that the inconsistencies in moderation right now have had a significantly negative impact on the server as of late and have not reflected the qualities of a great moderator. Certain staff members are having a tough time connecting with the current playerbase because they do not spend much time actually playing on the server and interacting with players because in a way they are actually trying too hard to moderate the server. The influx of players coupled with the lack of need for moderators to assert their authority has caused punishments to be handed out without proper discretion and without the staff member thinking about the infraction. This has led to some instances where there has been a “Show me the man and I'll find you the crime.” complex.
Since the start of Towny Extreme, there have been almost 20 players banned for either xray or some form of bug abuse. Right now there are about 35 players consistently online. These players have all been extremely active since the start of the revamp. These aren’t new players who’ve never played Meepcraft before, they’re players who have come back because Towny Extreme included everything that paralleled what made the server and community so fun and engaging. If these bans were lifted right now, there would most likely be 50-60 people online right now instead of 40. We are not saying that these players didn’t break the rules, but we are concerned that the biases of the staff team that we’ve highlighted above are disproportionately punishing meepers that fit a certain description: Very active, respected, and otherwise rule-abiding veterans who are in towns that are not named Legion who resorted to breaking the rules due to server bugs and problems that the staff team are responsible for. These problems include not properly setting bounds on the world, and making diamonds so rare to the point where average gamers would be lucky to get enough for a set of diamond tools after a week on the server. We are all adults here, and we have set a precedent of reporting bugs such as the tree spawning glitch and flying outside of towns glitch to the staff team when we’ve discovered them. We are not young children who need to be babysat and set an example of anymore. We are actual people and the staff can do a better job at using discretion by talking to people and understanding the parameters of an infraction of the rules. The handling of punishments by certain staff members has put a bad taste in the mouths of many players, and will likely cause many people to just stop playing once this quarantine is over and people go back to their normal lives. At the start of this new page in Meep's history, we should be doing everything we can to keep players online so that when this pandemic is over, they will still want to hop on and play. Banning a bunch of players for small infractions while the only thing for some of them to do right now is play minecraft just lacks the sense that a staff member who wants to increase quality player engagement should have.
To conclude, we are imploring you to think about what is best for the continued growth of Meepcraft and capitalize on this time where many people will be online by unbanning all players who were banned for non toxicity-related crimes on Friday, April 10th. We cannot speak for everyone, but as for those in our town such as VKL and jcbetro who have been banned already, we can assure you that we are not here to cause harm to the server. We genuinely care about this server and we are only here to play minecraft and have fun during these hard times. We ask that you consider using more discretion when passing hefty bans on players because we feel that it interferes with the enjoyment of this server and provides an unstable and unhealthy relationship between staff members and players that may inhibit players from continuing to play on the server. We truly appreciate the time that you have put into keeping the integrity of the server intact. Again, we are all friends and on the same side and we implore you to use more discretion when handing out punishments. The smaller the community, the more the engagement. If we all work together and recognize our faults we can continue to make Meepcraft great again.
Love Always,
The Sith Coalition

- Thread: Just a quick note.....
EULA is affecting each and every Multi-Player Minecraft server. Minecraft servers have 2 ways to deal with the EULA and the deadline.
1. Make effective changes to the server and the perms to fall within the EULA
2. Hold out and not follow the EULA and have the server blacklisted and shut down.
We understand that these changes are not fun! We understand that it affects perms that members of the community donated to the server to receive. This is not something that anyone involved took lightly, we spent many hours going over the servers options and decided to ensure the new and longtime members of the MeepCraft community would still have a server to log into.
I have donated many times to this server to help players get the ranks they wanted. I did that first as a Certified rank seller making myself the richest (In meebles) player on the server to the tune of almost 1 billion meebles and I still do that today except I decided long ago meebles didn't make me happy so I now only give ranks away on my terms and when I see someone I feel in my opinion needs the hand. I also do so with contests in which I fund rank giveaways. I also along with almost 50 other players donated for Ultimate when it first came out when it for a period of 4-5 months only included the title "Ultimate" and orange chat.
I am telling you this for one reason and it is my opinion and one I know is shared with the years’ worth of Meepsters I have enjoyed the community with and I hope with many fellow Meepsters in the future. I don't sign on MeepCraft every day to fly. I don't sign on to /heal. I sign on to MeepCraft because in my opinion it is the greatest Towny Economy Server ever. I sign on because on good and bad days I am able to be a part of "in my opinion" the greatest community of online gamers in not just Minecraft but in gaming.
With the ups and downs over the years, with members of this community having great days and at times not so great. We are still a community of people who has always been open to new players, helpful to all players, caring at times when irl members of this community have hit rough patches. We are Meepsters! When the MN issues arose a few years ago and we took the huge steps involved in saving MeepCraft with the help of some of the community’s best we all lost all of towny! Every town gone, all meebles gone, all mini games gone and because of the Community we sucked it up and moved forward together.
I am sorry for the long rant but I just wanted to let everyone know that we as a server appreciate all every one of you has done for this place and each other. We appreciate the donations over the years to make sure every day when you needed to get away you were able to head to meepcraft.com to build, play, earn, and at times just chat.
I know this is a tough pill to swallow, I understand that things changing are never fun when the changes are this type but I see the future of this great server. I see the builds getting better, the economy getter stronger, and the MeepCraft Community getting up, dusting off and moving forward better and stronger.
Again I want to thank you all for the donations over the years making MeepCraft possible and for not talking chargebacks as you understood "donations" when you made them. I also want to in advance thank everyone moving forward to keep MeepCraft moving forward.
We released a huge list of new items to come if you review the thread Fuzzlr posted. This is not a wish list that will sit forever. I can assure you we all worked hard in the final hours yesterday to comply and will put many more hours in to fulfill our goals laid out.
Thank you MeepCraft and all the members of this great Community. -
- Thread: Things Need To Change.
As many of you may know, I am Cyber_Punk_ and I have been playing on this server since 2012. I left the server and devoted my time to other things, in hopes to return to an improved community. However, to my most absolute heartbreak - I came back to an empty chat with the void of no presence. A chat that makes you have to test whether there is lag or not, due to the utter silence. Now, I hate pointing out the negatives in the server because, well, the server has never fallen to the low it is now. The server has never disappointed me to the extent it has now, and I hate to say it but I think if anyone disagrees - you are facing a sad denial.
The reason I am making this is not to gain attention. It is not the put down a server I don't play any more, it is not my place to state what needs to change because I do not have a say.
When I became staff, I had hopes of making a difference, of somewhat contributing my thoughts and ideas to the team so that an implementation could be placed. I cannot begin to fathom out the reasons as to why nothing has been changed when a clear fall has taken place. The current standards of the server are not the standards they should be at. And please, do not get me wrong, the server is still great but the community isn't. And although you cannot control the intentions nor actions of a community - nor can you control the activity. However, you can control the influx and you can change things to allow for a better communication, you can change things to allow for some sort of dedication and activity. You cannot implement further additions to the server without a player base. If there is no demand, there shouldn't be any stock - and that is exactly what the server is doing. Sure people love infected, of course people love pvp, and yes people play towny. But, why would you expect this to bring in players when there is no foundation? How can you expect people to talk in the chat when there will be no reply? The community is filled with colored titles next to names. There is no welcoming nor simple step to getting into the server for new players. Yes, the spawn in spectacular, it's immaculate to say the least but do you really expect a community to magnetize towards a spawn if there is no presence or simplicity? I won't name names but I joined another server a while ago and I cannot begin to explain how simple everything is. How simple the spawn is and how easy it is just to pick up on how to play. People are stubborn, people do not read to learn, they read to reply and that is exactly what this server expects. I am not saying change the whole server or just remove everything, no, not at all what I am saying. What I am suggesting is something simpler and yet far more effective. But at the same time the simplicity of this will most definitely have hate, but hear me out for a second.
So my suggestion is resetting the server. And I know just from this comment, half of you will throw a fit and complain about it not being possible and find every single possible negative impact this could have but really, what is there to lose? Through the years I have been apart of this community, I have seen more names return than leave after a reset. Sure you will lose people but the gains will be far far more. Do a relaunch, send out a mass email. Unban people. And I know for a fact just from me saying unban people - there will be an uproar of criticism but why are you fearful of something that could easily assist the community? Yes there are people who have been rightly banned and I would never in a million years consider them a space on the server but people do change. People learn from their mistakes. There will always always be "crime" or an injustice that will be provoked by certain people but that's why there is staff. When I was staff, I could care less about who I had to deal with because that was my job and I voluntarily signed up for it with no benefits. Yes it will be a lot of work but you as the staff are here to make a change and improve what you can, aren't you? And if you doubt this statement or insist on it being "too much admin and too much work" - Leave the staff team. No attitude like that should be an attitude from a staff member. I know for a fact there will be every reason not to let people back onto the server but how can you know without trying? How can you pass judgements and assumptions without having pure evidence that it will happen. Just reset the server. The economy needs a drastic change and the rich only get richer and the poor have no chance. I can't tell you how many people probably feel as though there is no room for them because there is no changes in the economy.
I have so much more to say about this and suggest the possibilities but if you will take anything out of this - understand that sometimes simplicity is the most valuable worth, complexity is in no way comparable to the simple. Maybe you are afraid of change and losing everything and sure you can't repeat the past and expect 2012 to just return. However, you got to where you are somehow, right? You improved and gained what you have through time and through starting from scratch like the rest of us. And you most definitely can change things to improve on the past and have an improved future. Maybe this thread is nothing but something you will read and pass over, or something that people will only disagree with but I know and I am sure you will all know in the back of your minds, behind the surface of your denial - you will have similar thoughts. And sorry but a reset is in order. Disagree if you want, I am not making this to change your opinion nor attempt to change your mindset but just consider it. Consider simplicity and the easiness of recreating something into a far better state.
Good luck to you all in the future. I sincerely hope things work out for the best

- Thread: My Appeal/Apology
Cooleysworld has allowed me to make this, please do not delete it. I mean every word I say in this appeal.

IGN (In-Game Name): ohDraqq
When you were banned: A few months ago (Sorry, I don't know the exact date)
Reason: For posting a link in shout that contained graphic images (Sorry again, I don't know the exact reason. I'm not at my pc right now and haven't been on Minecraft in a while)
Ban Length: Permanent
Staff Member: Bluecarneal
Why we should consider your appeal:
Good day, Meepcraft. This is Ryan (ohDraqq). I haven't been on the server in the longest time and I've been bored to death trying to find another server, and just bored playing Minecraft in general. I want to be given another chance on this server and change my ways. I know that my ban history is very extensive, and I am extremely sorry for all of my bad actions on the server, but that will change from this point foward. I love this server, I really do, and I miss all of my old friends I used to play with who are now returning back to the server, and I'd love another chance to play with them again. My actions are inexcuseable and I won't deny it. I'm taking full blame for everything I have done. I hope that all the citizen and staff can accept this apology. All I'm asking for is one more chance, that's all. It would make me very happy if I was allowed back on the server and playing with everyone again. I don't want to sound a bit hasty, but I would like my forum account unbanned as well, as that was one of my favourite parts of the server and I loved to communicate to my friends and the players via the forums. I will accept any infringing messages removed from my main forum account if you deem it necessary, or a general forums account wipe. Once again, I am sorry for everything I've done. I hope you can forgive me.
Sorry for the short app and all. I have near enough explained everything in a pastebin I made for staff a few weeks ago. I just wanted to share it with the rest of the meepcraft community; http://pastebin.com/CwkRtRsH
I understand if this is denied, I personally don't think it's been long enough to welcome a player like me back to the server. Staff just gave me a chance to appeal and I took that chance, and hope for the outcome I'd like.
Thanks again.

When you were banned: Just now
Reason: Nothing (But I can guess)
Ban Length: perm
Staff Member: Onis
Why we should consider your appeal:
Couple reasons.
1. I have had this account for a year and throughout this time, I have been banned before. fuzzlr, personally unbanned me every time. (But he isn't here.)
2. Thought we didn't ban for account names?
3. The whole staff team was in agreement not to ban me, yet you do, onis.
4. I am changing the name in 1.8 and am just using it as this in the meantime. Literally the whole server knows of it's existence so what is the point of banning it at this point?

- Thread: Rules For Debates
Before creating a new thread or posting on threads in this forum, please keep in mind a few rules:
- Keep debates clean and orderly. Spam posts will be deleted and warnings will be dealt.
- Be mature.
- If a thread discomforts you, don't view the thread.
- Threads and arguments should use logic and reason.
- Fun debates are allowed. http://www.debate.org/ has a very nice set up for debates and events.
- Do NOT rant or flame players on debate threads. This is not the forum to do so.
- Do NOT create 'troll' threads.
Warnings will begin to be dealt to posts and threads which break these rules.
If you end up with enough warnings, a forum ban will be applied to your account.Last edited: Jun 20, 2014lollisweet101, Math_Pro, SuperDyl and 34 others like this. -
- Thread: Resignation
Hey everyone, as you probably have noticed, I am no longer staff here. I resigned yesterday morning knowing that the high staff is very shaky right now and decisions, whether they are server or player related, are not being made properly. I was taking on a vast majority of the work like most of the modreqs and forum-related things (that's not to say the other staff aren't doing enough work or w/e, everyone does what they can and they are awesome). I'm not really sure what else to put here so I thought I would give some tips/advisory to the people who are interested in applying or moving up the ranks here, and hopefully it will explain why I decided to quit a bit more.
A lot of people come onto staff with the idea that they are going to be the next big thing and make all these cool changes and be on the communities side with suggestions and ban appeals and things like that. But the fact is is that a lot of the things that ya'll want to happen aren't going to. This might be because of lack of techs, disagreements among the team, or just plain lack of communication.
When you start, you'll be eager to spend 1-2 hours on a theft modreq and be willing to catch any hacker that comes within 100 blocks of ya. You'll think you're hot stuff when you get all that work done. Lemme tell ya, not everyone is going to think that. There's going to be those who make awful rumours about you and don't credit you for anything that you've done. It's tough. You have to practically be a rhino to take all the hits you'll get.
You're not just making jokes and giving the occasional warning for spam in /g. There is such a sheer amount of work that you have to do and so many things that need to get done (well you don't really have to, but you love the server so you do it anyways, right?). It sucks to see the player count slowly fall even when you're being the best you can be. Then there's really nothing more you can do unless some seriously major changes happen. You'll start to fall into a robotic work ethic; just doing modreqs and usual tasks until someone steps up and says something - still doing the best you can, but having no vision for the future; you've tried to push for new things but they just won't happen... 'it's not worth it', 'what if so-and-so happens', or 'we don't have the resources'. Honestly, becoming staff won't make much of a long-lasting impact unless you know how to code and boss around a group of volunteers, who's lives shouldn't/don't revolve around this server.
Currently, there is no "leadership" role as far as I can see. We used to (at least 2 years ago) have frequent meetings and staff activities. There has been no outreach from the admins whatsoever to make these happen. They are suggested by lower staff then it just kinda dies out. If we go over suggestions/applications, they are organised by a moderator then a group consensus. There have been times when admins don't even attend these "meetings," caring about them is a whole different story. The team morale is super low, and there's only talk about changing it (even that is rare).
Like I said, the lowering player count is not helping anything - I saw 19 people online yesterday morning. That was almost heartbreaking. I've spent a rather large time of my teenage-hood on this server and I don't know why there aren't any immediate actions to bring Meep back to its glory. Perhaps Minecraft servers really aren't that popular anymore. I'm not going to suggest ways to fix it or whatever because as you all know there's a plethora of other threads that you can debate on for that.
I've realised I've made staff sound like a really terrible thing - only a little bit . There will be times when you're on cloud-nine and you'll be so friggen happy!! It's nice to be able to help people out! It makes you feel good! If this is really really something you want to do, remember to take frequent breaks and it's not the end of the world if you don't meet your modreq goal every week, ban 501241 players and give personal refunds to everyone. You need to know your limits and set small goals - don't expect anything super impeccably amazing.
Anyways! I will try to check on my town and /pwarp random (buy my books) at least once a day because that was one of the things that I did to relax after a long day. I hope there are no hard feelings between anyone and me, and if so I would be more than happy to talk to ya and right our wrongs. You are all such a cool community and I am forever grateful for all the relationships that I have built here. See ya around!Adrian, UglyUnicorn, SpongeyStar and 33 others like this. -
- Thread: Rank/Chat Color Adjustments
Suggestion: Improvements for the rank/chat colors of Staff and Ultimate members.
I'll try and keep this short and simple:
- Revert Mod chat color to match with Helper color as it used to.
- Mod rank will stay as green but the chat text will change back to yellow. Edit: Or the mod rank and the brackets around the rank can be yellow as well so that it is different from helper.
- Mod chat text is currently dark aqua which is difficult to see in shout in contrast to the other colors.
- This removes an unneeded color out of the Meepcraft rainbow.
- Switch the SuperMod chat and rank colors with those of Ultimate.
- SuperMod ends up with orange rank color and orange chat color. It is a warmer color than yellow, and leads up to the red admin color. Makes sense right?
- It is still an easy to see color so no worries over our community not seeing our SuperMods.
- Edit: The brackets around the rank could be orange as well.
- Ultimate members end up with a dark aqua rank color and aqua chat color.
- This is an enticing set of colors which will add incentive for players to donate to Ultimate.
- There are too many players not willing to donate after getting up to Supreme because they'll end up with a dull color after having such an attractive one while Supreme.
- Also makes sense as Supreme has dark purple rank color and light purple chat color. Dark to light.
- SuperMod ends up with orange rank color and orange chat color. It is a warmer color than yellow, and leads up to the red admin color. Makes sense right?
- Edit: Make adjustments to the server broadcasts.
- Change the server broadcast color from yellow to gray. The yellow blends in with the helper chat. Gray is still a visible color thus being a good replacement for yellow.
- Server broadcasts comes on too frequently, increase time between broadcasts.
- Remove ctf win messages from broadcasts. Only adds spam to shout.
- Remove parkour claim prizes from broadcasts. Only adds spam to shout.
- Remove spleef win messages from broadcasts. Only adds spam to shout.
- Remove official meeper broadcasts and set it so only the person whom completed the tutorial sees that message. Only adds spam to shout.
Who would this benefit?: The whole community as it will provide clearer identification on staff members and incentive for players to donate to Ultimate as well as satisfy those currently Ultimate. Donations = Running Server.
About how long will this take to be implemented, if it is accepted?: A few minutes at most.
Would this cause more lag?: Not at all.Last edited: Jul 4, 2015Toostenheimer, ToonMichaela, Lady_Hestia and 33 others like this. -
- Thread: MeepPatches 10/5/2014
This update was mostly internal changes. The update started at 9:10 PM PST, and ended at 11:30 PM PST.
Notable changes during this update:
- Tons of performance improvements to all database operations
- Enhanced internal server APIs to make room for new content
- Chat: Similarity checker on messages. If you send messages of more than 90% similarity within 10 seconds, the server will deny your message. This occurs in global chat, and local chat in populated areas (like spawns)
- Chat: Staff can now see through the advertisement filter
- Chat: MeepCraft.com (note the case) no longer gets censored by the advertisement filter
- Chat: Private chat now uses the filter
- Currency: Total balance fix implemented. If you are inactive for 2 weeks and have less than 2.5M, you will no longer appear on baltop or be included in the total balance.
- Currency: /baltop chat format fixed
- Vortex: Redirecting too fast and causing a "You are already logged in" error is now fixed.
- Visual: Informational holograms are now working on 1.8
Thank you!Last edited: Oct 6, 2014 -
- Thread: I'm Out, Yo.
You probably all know that my 3 day temp-ban was recently changed to a perm-ban. I do not care, nor will I ever. I've sealed my legacy, people know my name and DancingCactus got what he wanted. I do not care what happens to Meepcraft from here on out, the server will fall soon and I will laugh. I will go on Teamspeak occasionally to talk to some friends, but will not interact in-game on any account besides ones that you're too stupid to figure out.
