To contextualize, Carthage and Rome were ancient rivals, and Rome had utterly destroyed Carthage in the first two Punic Wars; however, each time, Carthage displayed an incredible ability to re-mobilize and wage another war against Rome.
As such, a faction of Roman senators, including Cato, got tired of the constant Carthaginian threat and vowed to destroy Carthage once and for all. They got their wish, as when Carthage waged war against Rome the next time, Rome's armies burnt down the cities and spread salt over the fields, so that nothing could grow again.
I'm comparing myself to Cato (a bit egotistical, I know) because his perseverance and insistence that Carthage must be destroyed led to the eventual destruction of Carthage, which, although brutal and initially expensive, ushered in a period of Roman dominance around the Mediterranean. I hope that by fixing towny and broken plugins, Meepcraft undergoes a similar renaissance.
