To be fair, we're 3 episodes away from the end, so they're focusing more on Emilia and saving her now than anything. Can't wait to read the Manga.

I feel like the makers of the anime know VERY well, that a lot of people are rooting for Rem (as in a romantic relationship with Subaru), so they are making her more boring, predictable as you said Gnaf, even annoying I would say. Preparing the scene for an Emilia comeback.
