Introduction:
Greetings, I would like to say that it has been a pleasure working again as a helper on Meep. After finishing my sophomore year in high school, I felt like it was time to take on another staffing position. After I resigned from SuperMod, I’ve learned that there is always time for MeepCraft even though school may have started again. I’ve been a Helper for 2 weeks now, and I feel comfortable enough to fill in a Mod application.
Why you should be Helper/Mod ?
Although I’ve had experience before as a mod, I must say these 2 weeks of being a helper have once again gotten me used to this new staffing system and I have gotten used to my skills as staff again. When I applied for helper 2 weeks ago, I felt like I was ready to just jump back into staffing without any guidance from the current staff. I’ve learned otherwise that I did need some help getting back on my feet, and I now have adjusted to the current system, which is and isn’t different from the old one which I was first accustomed to.
- Improvement
Modreqs and shout moderation are indeed two important aspects that a helper must learn. I’ve always had an easy time completing a modreq and making sure that the person’s needs are all met. Some modreqs are easy, and some modreqs had me spend hours searching through countless HawkEye pages until I could gather enough proof for a proper punishment. I know that it is important for a person never to quit because of the customer service, which is why I’ve tried my very best to meet the needs of people who needed assistance. I’m always looking through shout to make sure players are having a good time, while still abiding by the rules. IE: making sure nobody is spamming, swearing, or discussing inappropriate topics.
- Public relations/Dealing with issues
One of the reasons I wish to apply for moderator is because I feel like I’m ready to use Mod perms to their potential to expand my moderative abilities. When I was a SuperMod many months ago, I’ve learned many techniques to utilizing Mod perms to their full potential to catching rule breakers that Helpers cannot on their own. As a Helper, I’ve realized that I can do much more with Mod perms than I can right now. Such may include moderating PvP areas, investigating X-Rayers (I’ve caught quite a few x-rayers in my previous time as staff), distributing bans for people who deserve them as soon as the problem comes up, and especially being there for guidance for any staff/player who may need a helping hand.
- Investigative/moderative qualities
One important aspect is being able to maintain a friendly status with the community, but still complete work as efficiently as possible. I have friends on MeepCraft, but I also have people whom I’m not fond off. I do not let these biases interfere with my judgement call and always make sure that everyone is taken care of solely based on rules and ethics.
- Professionalism
To wrap things up, I’d like to say that I appreciate all the staff members working together to help lead the server in the right direction. It’s been a pleasure working with everyone and I’ve had a nice time adjusting to the system. Handling modreqs and
- Overall
Weaknesses:
It is true that I’m not always active on Teamspeak. I usually only go on Teamspeak whenever I’m asked to, or, I may just periodically check it out but not stay for a significant period of time. I try my best to make myself available to talk, which usually isn’t a big problem for me. However, there may be times when I simply am not available to go on TS because of real life environment.
- Teamspeak availability
If someone does something bad in the past and it is a detriment, I can easily hold a grudge and it may persuade my actions towards that person. Although I may not let these grudges interfere with my judgement calls, I can sometimes let it interfere with the way I treat the person face to face. I’m not rude, but I can get snarky at times.
- Grudges
Conclusion:
Although my application may seem a bit “rushed” because many other applicants have waited more than 2 weeks, I believe my combined prior knowledge and 2 weeks of working as a helper again is enough to thoroughly uphold the Mod position here on Meep. I’m ready any time to begin a higher staffing position. I’ve handled many modreqs which involved bans, and because Helpers don’t have offline ban, I’ve needed help to thoroughly complete these required punishments. If I get promoted to Mod, it will make my staffing position easier and I could further expand my skills to moderate and catch rule breakers.
Thank you for this wonderful time and opportunity.
