Hey everyone, as you probably have noticed, I am no longer staff here. I resigned yesterday morning knowing that the high staff is very shaky right now and decisions, whether they are server or player related, are not being made properly. I was taking on a vast majority of the work like most of the modreqs and forum-related things (that's not to say the other staff aren't doing enough work or w/e, everyone does what they can and they are awesome). I'm not really sure what else to put here so I thought I would give some tips/advisory to the people who are interested in applying or moving up the ranks here, and hopefully it will explain why I decided to quit a bit more.

A lot of people come onto staff with the idea that they are going to be the next big thing and make all these cool changes and be on the communities side with suggestions and ban appeals and things like that. But the fact is is that a lot of the things that ya'll want to happen aren't going to. This might be because of lack of techs, disagreements among the team, or just plain lack of communication.

When you start, you'll be eager to spend 1-2 hours on a theft modreq and be willing to catch any hacker that comes within 100 blocks of ya. You'll think you're hot stuff when you get all that work done. Lemme tell ya, not everyone is going to think that. There's going to be those who make awful rumours about you and don't credit you for anything that you've done. It's tough. You have to practically be a rhino to take all the hits you'll get.

You're not just making jokes and giving the occasional warning for spam in /g. There is such a sheer amount of work that you have to do and so many things that need to get done (well you don't really have to, but you love the server so you do it anyways, right?). It sucks to see the player count slowly fall even when you're being the best you can be. Then there's really nothing more you can do unless some seriously major changes happen. You'll start to fall into a robotic work ethic; just doing modreqs and usual tasks until someone steps up and says something - still doing the best you can, but having no vision for the future; you've tried to push for new things but they just won't happen... 'it's not worth it', 'what if so-and-so happens', or 'we don't have the resources'. Honestly, becoming staff won't make much of a long-lasting impact unless you know how to code and boss around a group of volunteers, who's lives shouldn't/don't revolve around this server.

Currently, there is no "leadership" role as far as I can see. We used to (at least 2 years ago) have frequent meetings and staff activities. There has been no outreach from the admins whatsoever to make these happen. They are suggested by lower staff then it just kinda dies out. If we go over suggestions/applications, they are organised by a moderator then a group consensus. There have been times when admins don't even attend these "meetings," caring about them is a whole different story. The team morale is super low, and there's only talk about changing it (even that is rare).

Like I said, the lowering player count is not helping anything - I saw 19 people online yesterday morning. That was almost heartbreaking. I've spent a rather large time of my teenage-hood on this server and I don't know why there aren't any immediate actions to bring Meep back to its glory. Perhaps Minecraft servers really aren't that popular anymore. I'm not going to suggest ways to fix it or whatever because as you all know there's a plethora of other threads that you can debate on for that.

I've realised I've made staff sound like a really terrible thing - only a little bit . There will be times when you're on cloud-nine and you'll be so friggen happy!! It's nice to be able to help people out! It makes you feel good! If this is really really something you want to do, remember to take frequent breaks and it's not the end of the world if you don't meet your modreq goal every week, ban 501241 players and give personal refunds to everyone. You need to know your limits and set small goals - don't expect anything super impeccably amazing.

Anyways! I will try to check on my town and /pwarp random (buy my books) at least once a day because that was one of the things that I did to relax after a long day. I hope there are no hard feelings between anyone and me, and if so I would be more than happy to talk to ya and right our wrongs. I wasnt going to post, but I've decided it may be good to inform people of the false statements in this silly post.

You rage resigned after my "Yay for LOL" thread because you took it seriously like. . . no one else. It was a thread to lighten the mood and let people get the final anger out after a pretty heated argument. Ive been doing this for a while and although you may THINK you know everything, You have much to learn as far as people skills go. I was also thanked for that thread a few times.

I want to say I'm sorry to break the news to you, But Helpers (in most cases) have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what a good idea is. Most of the time its something like, "Hey! Lets add something like the stair chair plugin! What could it hurt!". Its the helpers job to put fourth those ideas and mods as well, but they are SUGGESTIONS for a reason. with the supermod/admin position, our job is to look at all the negatives, and also go to a test server to fool around with em and see if they're good or bad. Sometimes even we screw up and dont catch things (like the ability to use stair chair to get out of Spleef and auto win every game). Those are bug fixes that we then have to go through and fix or get dblo to come up with something. You may not see us fixing them or say "you're barely active", But you dont see 90% of it. Modreq checkups, going on alts to check information and tips we get, Talking for hours to banned players, ect. So no, you wont get to add everything you want, but if you have good ideas, dont think we dont see and appreciate them.

They call this Rookie syndrome in the police force. Its what happens when a new officer gets a sense of empowerment. The problem is you make enemies fast because you are now disciplining people. Its also kind of what happens when parents start discipline their children. Its tough sure, but we warn every single person in interview that they WILL be hated on. If you cant stand the heat then unfortunately staff isn't for you.

Once again you fall into the "You dont know what you're talking about" category. You have had ideas like making players pay to sit on each others heads in spawn, and also argues with me on a ton of ideas that were simply a waste of time. I know you dont see them that way because in lala land you think everything grown on trees and Fuzzlrs wallet has no bottom. We pay dblo, advertisements, (not sure if you even knew we just paid $400 to advertise on TopG) and we also have to pay to keep the server running, Which im sure if you go calculate the cost of over 10 servers running your head will explode. I know your response will be something along the lines of "Why are we advertising a broken server". The answer is because we need donations to pay dblo or a new tech to fix it. Simple as that.

Theres no leadership role that you can see because you think you run the place. Every time you're told no you argue then disappear. The morale was low because certain staff find the need to compare everyone to everyone instead of having a grand old time. All I see is "Omg _______ made a mistake and did this! demote or?" Instead of just taking it upon yourself to teach them. You expect team morale when you do NOTHING to boost it. Also, The reason we admins sometimes cant attend is because we are on polar opposite time zones. We also have full time jobs. Theirs NO reason supers, mods, and helpers cannot accomplish the necessary tasks that need to be addressed in a meeting.

I have no hard feelings. I also have NEVER heard any of this from you. Never received a message about concerns. Its easy to sit back and try to pick apart a server from a viewpoint of no actual responsibility. We however, High staff, Need to make sure the eco stays in a solid place. Balancing eco drain and floods. Its not fun and we need to deny a lot of things you think well help the server, But in the end its the job.

To end this off, No response to fix it? We are adding a custom UHC and Sky wars, as well as adding a crate system to get special items to make the economy swirl. Ooh yeah 1.9 is coming as well and with new items and enderdragon and endermite heads coming, Meep will be back soon. Dont you worry about that. Us inactive, non existing leaders will handle it.

I dont want to leave this without saying however, I do, and have appreciated everything you've done. When it comes to work ethic people can deff take a lesson from you.

you were misinterpreted to the get go and were never given the benefit of the doubt. you were targeted along with some other staff members despite my strong efforts otherwise. your time on the staff team was efficient, passionate, friendly, and positive until it was carelessly decided you were a bad staff member for extremely personal and chauvinistic reasons. your response to policies is valid because you were attacked first and i don't know what was expected after never trying to talk to you about what was wrong. you did more than any other staff member (at least when i was around) until this happened. you deserve better and im happy to see you left. enjoy your time off and only work for people who appreciate you as a coworker and as a person. im glad to have met you.

 

I find bans fun because I don't find the server fun Sorry that it gets hella boring after a week of playing it to the point where I just want to break the rules. Thanks for giving me another chance to just prove how easy it is to get unbanned even when I was never supposed to in the first place.

The only thing thats trash here, is you junior. You have no right to say that about my friend, nor do you have any right to nit-pick her time as staff because in my opinion, your last go at staff was highly unimpressive. Reality check, you're a child. Grow up.

And for those who are being rude and disrespectful also have no right to be here. If you have nothing nice to say, dont say it at all. June is human, treat her like one.

 

Your hard work and leadership was always under recognized in my opinion, I was always rooting for you to be able to take on bigger and better things. You were always there pushing for new things to happen, like reviving The MeepCraft Times, but rarely were they ever able to take off. I saw those efforts, and I can definitely empathize with what you've described. You were always one of the most positive forces on the team, and you will be sorely missed. It was such a privilege to work alongside you!!

Thanks everyone who has been supportive and kind. I appreciate it more than you know. This thread was mainly for me to explain to ya'll what happened from my point of view and to vent a little. So yea. It sucks that some people can't get past their little conflicts but hey, ya can't change other people right? ily all, thanks again <3

 

The shear fact people are trashing a good person and saying mean things on their resignation letter is a sure fire way to get them off my "friends" list. You know who you are.

I hope you have fun outside of the staff team. As we talked about this earlier, I hope it continues to be a huge relief of stress and weight you were holding. I loved getting to work with you the first time you were a staff member. Have fun and stay golden.

 

I constantly see this happening. I bet it's frustrating when you spend so much time doing a modreq and not even get a "thank you". I've seen you work Extreamly hard and try your best and people still don't appreciate it and with comment about how your the worst staff and crap like that. I wish you the best of luck. These "sleazy staff" do a lot more than you think. Just because staff doesn't shine its power and successions through global or forums doesn't mean they don't do anything. You claim you won't stand for staff's BS, then why are you here. Our staff are on DAILY, grown ups, adults, people with higher priorities, yet there manage to get on daily, and your going to sit here and title them sleazy when they are sacrificing there time, so YOU, THE PLAYER can have a working server. Our staff, Helpers to the Owner, are a necessity, so stop acting like they sit around dumbfounded, because I'm sorry, but you seem to have the slightest idea of what they actually do.

 

Okay I'll just say one more thing.

June, when you were in the staff team, I really saw a true leadership quality in you. You were always eager for staff get togethers and team bonding ideas, and even if some people weren't keen on it you still fired ahead. You got some of us to join the pictionary online website and that was extremely fun and gave us staff, a break, and some laughter. Don't let anyone on this thread back you down, because I know in the future, whether it's on Meep or real life, you will always be the one who is out there trying to bond everyone.

For real guys june did a lot, its a lot more stress then you think. If you think you can do better apply. Don't turn this into a bunch of snobby kids asking for spilled milk, what you did is wrong on this thread, make this a post of good things thanking her, not tormenting her. @junelawnchaired I appreciate all you did and you are the one who made me think about applying for helper, you are a role model to me and I thank you for all you did. godspeed buddyo!

 

How many times did you complain to them about this? I only ask because most times people resign, then post a wall, it turned out they never said anything before they resigned, just after.

 

At one time staff was my family, I went through everything with them and I loved every single one of them. They were always here for me and for the community and that's what made my experience in staff team the best experience in a team ever..

I became so sad when I saw this post, and watching members of my family going against each others when it's time to be more unified

Guys, I think there was a misunderstanding somewhere and it's not that big it can be solved it just need little efforts from everyone. I suggest you talk it out on Skype or TeamSpeak all together to solve it, otherwise things tend to get worse and worse when other people get involved with since no one except those concerned knows the real thing.

June you are a hard worker, I know you and I regret I have nothing to compensate you all the work you did and help provided to the server, it's community and staffs members. Maybe posting that thread the way you did has something wrong it it but as I said before, hope you get to contact concerned people and fix it all up and Together! Because Meep or staff team is like a puzzle, it doesn't reveal its identity till all pieces are available.

As I always said staff team is a family, and yea sometimes we hurt each others in the family but at the end we re-conciliate together.

I felt so useless watching my siblings going through small stuffs and making them arguments when things could be handled in a better way, that's why I posted this comment.. Anyone on this thread that feels like he attacked someone should recontact this person and fix it..

Meep first of all is a community, and as part of this community I cannot allow myself seeing it getting divided and not move a finger, sorry if this post is a bit long but I really had to say that..
