Well as most of you know I was demoted recently. I was demoted for a valid reason, inactivity. However, I am very disappointed in the way the higher staff handled my demotion. First off, I let them know I was going to be inactive for a little bit while baseball season was in full gear. I was told it was fine and all good, I even told them to let me know if my activity was too bad and I would do something about it. Surprisingly, I was not messaged until after I was demoted. I received no warning that a demotion was incoming and I was even on just hours before and no one bothered to tell me. Now everything has a lesson in it, this one is for the higher staff members. Display a level of professional courtesy and don't just demote someone. A better way to handle the situation would have been to pm me saying "Hey, your activity has been very poor and try and get it straight in a week. If not we will have to demote you." If I was pm'ed this I would have had no hard feelings. I would have much rather resigned then been demoted. So please, next time you are about to demote someone, display professional courtesy.

After reading your thread I must say I was a bit surprised that instead of replying to the messages you were sent you decided to post half of the truth on a thread. You were valued as a member of the staff team for quite some time. I did not meet one member of the team that had anything negative to say about you other than inactivity. I agree that you were on just hours before being removed from the staff team and while on you were messaged two times which both messages were not responded to. Also during the time on no time was given to helping the community with modreqs, forum staff work etc. When no reply was received you were removed from the staff team and sent a message that thanked you for your great service and you were asked to re-apply when time allowed you to devote more time. As Deljikho mentioned above you were asked about the inactivity on more than one occasion, followed by messages prior to final mail on forums. Based on this the thread you wrote is kind of confusing as I would not have expected a misinforming thread from you.

As it states I hope when time allows to see you on MeepCraft. I still think you were a great staff member and great person.

 

Hey Puck, first off I apologize we had to make a decision to demote you; You had a lot of potential and unfortunately it wasn't really being utilized do to being busy irl. I also apologize that we/I didn't message you in advance and say your activity was becoming a problem to the verge of demotion, I do believe you would've taken some effort to make for time for Meep. The issue, however, is that your activity was vastly below mostly every other staff, and when we talked about your activity we kept getting that you're busy with baseball but you'd be more active soon. This had went on for weeks and weeks, everytime I messaged you to say thanks for your work, you'd be clearly obvious that your inactivity was very subpar. I'd get the same response "I'm very busy with baseball but I'll be more active soon". It basically got to the point that we believed you would be better off focusing on irl and not having to bother with worrying about staff. I believe if I would've gave you a warning it'd be mean and unfair to make you take valuable time from your irl schedule just so you can avoid a demotion.

Like I said Puck, you've got tons of potential and I'd really like to work with you again. You're a great worker and a good friend. We just both know you didn't quite have the time to dedicate to Meep this time around. I wish you all the best and I hope you kick some but in Baseball.

1. How many times were you talked to about your activity?

2. We waited a week to talk to you in person but you never replied.

 

You keep mentioning "Professional Courtesy" which incase you did not know the meaning it is : "A form of MUTUAL respect among people in the same line of work. "

1. I sent you two messages which you did not reply to while you were "On" two days ago.
2. Then I sent you this message on forums:

3. This is the message Deljikho sent to you on the forums after your post apologizing if you felt it was done incorrectly:

4. This is the message I sent when I found you were not happy with how things:

Now look at your actions:

You did not talk to anyone in High Staff about your "feelings" regarding this issue. Instead you post a thread with incomplete information taking a swing at the high staff. You then say that the people who did reply had lied. Followed by saying "Own up and quit trying to b.s. your way out of the situation."

1. I don't need to bs my way out of this situation.
2. I suggest you read the entire thread and see who has no idea what Professional Courtesy is.

As far as I can tell you're correct in saying this, and it's a reason I'm taking a lot of responsibility in this decision because I was one of the staff you've told this to. When we talked I was pretty lenient on the activity issue with hopes it would improve soon, you told me directly "if it gets too bad to where I'll be demoted please give me a warning". I think I totally failed in that area, I have justification for my reasoning but it doesnt totally exempt me from going back on my word. When your name came up for demotion I didn't personally send you a warning and I truly apologize Puck. I thought it'd be mean to say "You have x days to catch up to other staff or you'll be demoted" especially since I believe you already gave us any time you truly had to spare.

I really learned from this, I've only been in my position a few months and there's a lot to it when dealing with team dynamics on a micro and macro level, I'm still learning. I'm sorry I had to learn a lesson at your expense Puck but I promise you it's not a lesson I'll soon forget.

 

That was not directed at you. Also, you don't know what it feels like to be demoted as it has never happened to you. It is quite embarrassing and a huge disappointment. It hurts your reputation too.

It's fine, I don't know who made the call but as I said it is high staff that I'm disappointed in, not you guys.

This is truly disappointing.

 

High staff is not there to nag people who volunteer for a job to do the job. The simple question is: How long were you inactive? If the answer is "weeks", I woulda demoted you a lot sooner, probably.

It's really a simple concept.

 

Every staff demotion = moan moan moan get a grip. If you feel so insulted by this talk to the team face to face.

The last thing staff need is more bad exposure. If you have advice inform them, not add it to the forums where half the community are looking for ammunition to fire at staff.

So frustrating watching this staff team get so much bad feedback even though all they do is try their best.

The demotion was just. And as for you I wouldn't blame them if they demoted me and wouldn't care that much as its understandable. They want a team fully focused on trying to make a better meep. Activity is a must even when it cannot be helped.

Castro had this exact same thing, except that it wasn't for inactivity. I'm not surprised that the higher staff never pm'ed you about your demotion.
You were, again, a good staff member. I hope you can come join the staff team again.
