I'm going to be honest with y'all

Nobody knew the kid was going to jump into the enclosure. I mean he's a kid. Yes, the parent (keep in mind there was only one parent) could've watched the kid a little better but if you had children your children are equally as likely to fall into that enclosure. Most of the blame should be put on the zoo, not the parent.

The gorilla had to die. I don't know if you guys know this, but animals are unpredictable. A human life is not worth debating over. The fact they're you're even saying the animal shouldn't have died is ignorant. If you were the boy who jumped in the enclosure, wouldn't you want the animal to stop immediately? The only way for the animal to stop immediately is for it to die. There is no other way the animal would've stopped immediately.

If you were watching the clip closely, part of it shows the gorilla protecting the kid by standing in front of him. There was no need for shooting the Gorilla.

Did the boy suffer any bruises or small scratches when he was being dragged? I didn't see the boy being dragged at all, I just see the gorilla actually taking him with him by his side. I'm probably blind, but that was just what I saw.

The gorilla didn't harm or kill anyone, and was apart of an endangered species. Again, there was no reason to kill it.

Correct me if I type out any mistakes. It's just my opinion.

Here's the deal. The only way to guarantee the child lives it to shoot the gorilla as soon as possible.
Even if the gorilla is protecting the child, how do you plan to explain that to the gorilla when you go to get the child out of the enclosure? That's a situation that could turn violent quickly.
If you attempt to tranquilize the gorilla, it's not very likely that a tranquilizer shot will do it's work instantly, and that second before he goes down could be deadly.
No one can really know what the gorilla's intentions were, and while they probably weren't violent, there's no other way to guarantee the child's safety than killing the gorilla. And you should never gamble with a human life.

I don't think that's what it was doing
I believe so. He was dragged very violently.

Anyway, in response to the survey, No, the gorilla didn't HAVE to be shot, but yes, it was the right choice. It was the only way to guarantee survival for the kid.

they won't use tranquilizers because according to that blonde guy if they do use tranquilizers to the gorilla it could cause a shock and no one knows what will happen next so they proceeded to use a bullet instead.
