Helper Application For Mcrichhuey

While I do have bias toward protecting my kids, as any parent should have, I am also the first to correct them if they step out of line. I have had to issue a "parental ban" from Minecraft in the past due to bad behavior, and would have no problem doing the same in game for rules violations.

But... I'm not THAT old! That's a grandpa level of protection there, used to cover up stale farts and mildew!

I'm not going to list their names here on the forums, but they are easy enough to figure out with an in-game command. They probably won't respond to chat, though, since I have told them not to talk to strangers until I approve them.

 

+1 - Loved the application, and from what I've seen, I think you would be great as staff. Smart, knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and fairly active.

I had similar concerns about time/activity when I applied, and we can talk a little more about that in private if you want. Just from the two weeks I've experienced so far... I can say that the less time you spend on MeepCraft overall, the higher proportion of your time will likely be spent doing staff work vs. playing the game. You'll still be able to hang out and have fun, especially when there are other staff online who are taking care of things (or on the other side, when there aren't many people on at all). But when you've only got 1-2 hours on a weekday, there's going to be less "wiggle room" for you than there will be on the weekends, if that makes sense.

I was going to ask how this is relevant to his qualifications for Helper... but MCRichHuey's answer was well-reasoned and well-stated, so it actually was good to see how he responded to a question like that.

 

It's nice to know where he stands on a debate that has been sparked and affects players on the server. His response makes me definitely want to say yes to an interview.

Knowing that he enjoys being a peacemaker of sorts already had me on his ship.

 

If his stance disagreed with yours, would that make you want to say no? I don't think I've seen questions like that on a staff app before, but again, it was good to see how well he responded to something that's been controversial lately!

+1, I don't even know you and that's usually a big part for my opinion on who should be staff in all but your application pretty darn great. Like the only 2 helpers I have approved to actually be worthy of their job is fang and kari, unless skaros is still helper . Anyways so yeah good job on the application!

 

Absolutely. It would shatter the image of a person who wants to keep this server clean as well as protect his children on a server which should be friendly to users of all ages.

 

So someone who disagrees with your opinion on "inappropriate acronyms" doesn't want to keep the server clean, doesn't want to protect children, and doesn't think the server should be friendly to users of all ages? Does "inappropriate acronyms" include WTF and STFU, which typically are meant to contain inappropriate language but are currently not punishable under our rules?

One of the things I liked about MCRichHuey's response is that he actually didn't get into what he thinks should or shouldn't be allowed on this thread. He basically said he would do the job of a staff member and enforce the rules (Edit: taking into account whether the offense was intentional or not), and then added that having clear and consistently enforced rules helps.

We can talk about this elsewhere if you want, lol. But I felt it was important to reply to this publicly, because I'm afraid that it might send a public message... that in order to become staff, people must agree with certain staff members about certain matters of opinion. If that's not what you're trying to communicate, please feel free to correct me. I just think as long as we all are working together toward a common goal and are respectful toward each other, a diversity of perspectives on the staff team is something to be welcomed.

 

Yes. There are plenty of staff members who disagree. IDM. No one will be denied a shot at staff simply because I don't agree with their stance on rules.
There are also people on staff who I cannot work together with because of their relaxed take on allowing people to swear whenever they want without repercussion.
This will have to be my last post on this thread, but feel free to start up a convo on forums or on Skype if you wish to continue. My thoughts are unchanged on this position and I've always been for a rework of sorts on the rules.

ooo, when I first met you you had just kinda started to become active. I wasn't sure if you were gonna stay on or not (plus I don't keep up much I just lurk forums). Anyways, on a more serious note. I have seen you in game a fair amount. Although I have never gotten a chance to really speak with you personally, I have had the pleasure of reading over some of your comments/opinions on a few threads here on forums. You seem very wise and I will be honest, your app shocked the cheese out of me! Very well written, detailed, and the way you threw that humor in there that only Slicks seems to understand... anyways.. what im saying is you seem like you could be a great addition to the team. I am +10,000 for an interview!

 

+1 Why is he not helper yet? Very good app and I have seen you in game and you act very mature despite the amount of teenagers and younger kids on the server. I wish you the best of luck.

And from how well written and organized your app was incredible. You had it clean and easy to find anything you wanted to know as a viewer and threw in some jokes so we didn't get bored.

But in all seriousness I've had a lot of conversations with you on teamspeak, I've personally helped you and watched you try to return plots to their rightful owners after your town fell. Your attitude is excellent and after you get accepted I want to see a mod app no sooner than 2 weeks into helper.....
