Intro:
I’ve enjoyed every second I’d gotten to spend as a Meepcraft Helper. There are so many new players that I have met and had the chance to speak to. You guys are some of the most intriguing, hilarious, smart, and determined individuals I have ever known. Each and everyone one of you inspires me every day, in more ways than just one. And it’s this inspiration that keeps me coming back; that keeps me wanting to do my job to the best of my abilities.
So this is my chance to thank you all: from the random citizen that helps me harvest my sugarcane for 5K to the Supermod that deals with all of my excessive questions. Thank you to the players that jump around a small area and chat about amazingly useless things. Thank you to the players that take their time to invent new ways for this place to be more unique and enjoyable. Thank you to the miners that basically run the eco; and the builders that make plain areas of land into unique towns. Thank you to the players that take time to appreciate each other; and the players that have all commended me on my job.
I appreciate each of you and I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to spend the last 12 weeks as a staff member of this wonderful server. I look forward to adding onto that number and to having more experiences with each of you!!
Why Should I be a Mod?
I am definitely ready to accept the role and responsibilities of a Moderator. I have learned so much from my last 12 weeks as a helper. I believe I am to a point that I am basically performing moderation duties on a daily basis and can keep performing those duties for the foreseeable future. Therefore I’ve decided that my capabilities would be better utilized as a higher position in the staff team.
I’ve mastered proficiency with prism commands. I can manipulate prism searches to refine my results and increase the efficiency of modreq-case time. My first few days as helper were spent training with prism: I bought 4 random plots in beta and set up numerous scenarios which I would then try to recapture with prism results. This proved highly successful for learning the prism system intuitively.
I’m able to handle each and any modreq with confidence. Even 4 weeks into my Helper position I was struggling with the confidence to investigate hacking reports. As of now I am fully confident in my abilities to identify and record hacking infractions. Recently there hasn’t been a case that I’m unable to give an appropriate investigation and response. Additionally I’ve been training on active tasks in-game such as identifying and catching x-ray users as well as others forms of hacked clients throughout the server.
Aside from passively handling modreqs I’ve been urged to take more dynamic roles in the server development. I’ve started work on 2 server projects (listed on Trello) that I believe are manageable and good additions to the server. One of which is a project which I am assisting Shain, another I am currently handling on my own. I enjoy getting new ideas from players, and especially with suggestions on the forums: I like to collaborate ideas between my fellow players and staff members. These projects often take time but with more experience I will be able to focus more attention on server development ideas and possibly help get more amazing things implemented onto Meep.
I’m a good leader and role model for new Helpers. I believe that as a moderator I can help aid in the management of the staff team. I want players to know that I am definitely a person they can go to for in-depth support and guidance. I would have never made it as a staff member if it wasn’t for inviting and wise mods to guide me along the way. I want to be that guide and I want to have a greater impact in our overall community culture.
Weaknesses:
Identifying the type of hacks used, in both reported player videos and my own observations, have been difficult. I believe the best way to identify a hack is to identify which hack it is; I’ve been trying to learn what distinct hacks look/act like but it’s been a difficult journey. I still refer to my fellow staff for hacking vids recorded by other players and they will often be kind enough to point out the hacks used, if any. I’m starting to get the hang of it but it’s still one of my biggest weaknesses.
Additional Info:
I'm still pretty awesome.
