That's illegal irl, your sending a virus to a phone. You could be arrested for that. Just saying.

I hope you're kidding. Lmao. It's not a virus, it's an error with the iPhone unicode that activates the Phone's only failsafe (to restart). Don't talk about things unless you know it's true :)

Actually. You are not sending a virus to a phone. You are exploiting a bug in the phones OS.

"A computer virus is a malwareprogram that, when executed, replicates by inserting copies of itself (possibly modified) into other computer programs, data files, or the boot sector of the hard drive; when this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be "infected"."

    Nope, not a virus.

I think you're the one who needs to research. It's not a virus. As I'll explain again, a bug in the iOS can't register the very specific Unicode characters to form a message, it activates the phones only fail safe because it doesn't know what to do.

Says it's a string of Arabic from te banner notification

    ---------

    http://m.snopes.com/2015/05/27/iphone-effective-power-imessage-glitch/

    I quote : "
    Cracked it.

It only works when the message has to be abbreviated with ‘…’. This is usually on the lock screen and main menu of Messages.app.

The words effective and power can be anything as long as they’re on two different lines, which forces the Arabic text farther down the message where some of the letters will be replaced with ‘…’

The crash happens when the first dot replaces part of one of the Arabic characters (they require more than one byte to store) Normally there are safety checks to make sure half characters aren’t stored, but this replacement bypasses those checks for whatever reason"

Straight from the iOS8.3 change log

    ----------

If it is a virus, how can it be stopped by merely turning off the notification bar? Clearly you are sticking to a rumor you probably got off reddit. Do your research and you can easily find its not a virus but a bug.

How about you show me a website to support you eh?

I have given you a link to a Wikipedia page (which is incredibly reliable), what more do you want?
The message which people sent to cause iPhones to go into fail safe is clearly NOT self replicating.
As for the reliable source, I have 4 of them here. :)

Wikipedia is not reliable at all.

I could start a whole debate on this. Wikipedia IS reliable. Stop saying it isn't.
    • First of all it is more reliable than any printed publication which could be out of date the second it is published.
    • Everything on Wikipedia is referenced to down the bottom, so just check out the references then.
    • Librarians also approve Wikipedia, a 2006 review of Wikipedia by Library Journal, using a panel of librarians, "the toughest critics of reference materials, whatever their format", asked "long standing reviewers" to evaluate three areas of Wikipedia (popular culture, current affairs, and science), and concluded: "While there are still reasons to proceed with caution when using a resource that takes pride in limited professional management, many encouraging signs suggest that (at least for now) Wikipedia may be granted the librarian's seal of approval".
    • Check out some more articles here, here, here and here.
I could go on forever if you want. Besides, you should always cross check your information no matter who it came from. I found a error with the birth date of Andy Thomas (Australian astronaut) once on the Kennedy Space Centre site which is run by NASA. On Wikipedia, it said his birthday date was another, which after doing a bit more research was correct.

So just like any site, government, commercial or anything else, you should always double check your information.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 17, 2015, Original Post Date: Jul 17, 2015 ---
And even if you do choose to believe it isn't reliable. Research it before you say it, have facts to back up what you say. Don't just base it off other people's opinion. Base it on tests and true facts. How about you provide some facts and studies to suggest that it isn't reliable?
Also, you stated that Wikipedia "is not reliable at all." Well what Wikipedia said about a computer virus was the same as every other source I provided you with.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 17, 2015 ---
+ what makes a site reliable? You didn't say Microsoft isn't reliable and they are a company which could be supplying false information for their own good. A Government site can't always be trusted either, take the Chinese Government's site for example. 1 look at that thing and you will discover that it has been used many times to manipulate the public.

HOW ARE YOU SO IGNORANT? I got proof from Apple sources, superbros even explained what s virus was. Also you don't get arrested for sending viruses unless you do it against the United States government (or the government of where you live) seriously how can someone be so ignorant. The "virus" is fixed because it was just a bug. If you can show me one valid point of it being a virus I might consider talking to you again. But for now I won't waste any more time. Also, Wikipedia is reliable
