Historically, we were all oppressed. Unlanded gentry used to not have a vote, Englishmen used to be slaves.
But in all reality, everyone is exactly the same as everyone else. Fight for equal rights, which I believe everyone should have, then do like the rest of us and shut up.Pmx728, Bob4444444, TNT404 and 11 others like this. -
we are murdered in our only safe places and you ask us why we need time to remind ourselves that we deserve to exist

Historically, it was necessary. It started off from the Stonewall riots which were the first time LGBT people in the US mobilized to fight for their rights. It happened June 28th. Eventually, a tradition continued of having parades, instead of riots, and they were held sometime in June. This is why June became pride month.
It's not really "necessary" anymore, but I consider it a great time to celebrate one's history. I don't see the problem with celebrating. Nobody has to be part of pride month if they don't want to. Like many other people who have days dedicated to celebrating who they are, why can't LGBT people have the same?
Reason there's no straight pride month is because straight people were never in a position where they had to fight for their rights by literally rioting in the streets.--- Double Post Merged, Jun 12, 2016, Original Post Date: Jun 12, 2016 ---

Identity politics is the most ignorant thing to come out of your generation; and it only serves to make the world more divisive.
What you are doing by dismissing me as a group of people is the same thing a lot of other people do; enshrine themselves in their own points of view and dismiss other's viewpoints by some arbitrary means.
Equality means the same, and demands everyone is treated exactly the same way. This isn't first grade, not everyone deserves a participation medal. Your trophy is surviving in the world, just like the rest of us on this planet.metr0n0me, builderjunkie012, Draqq and 5 others like this. -
Blacks, Hispanics, and Women felt left out when they couldn't vote.
Blacks and Hispanics felt left out when they couldn't go to a business or equal education school that was made strictly for White people.
Blacks, Women, Native Americans, Hispanics, and LGBT+ felt left out when mainstream society deemed them as undesirable people.
But god-forbid a straight white man feels left out, right?
Are you seriously this ignorant?Last edited: Jun 12, 2016Muunkee, onceuponajano, adlovesdogs and 5 others like this. -

Some lgbt people fight too much and stuff it in people's face too much, like "I'm gay cater to me I'm special would you do the same for me if I wasn't straight"
like why tf do we need a gay month
My mom is the manager of a tourism board (basically she helps advertise this certain country and tells people what they could do in the country yada yada whatever) and she got a phone call from somebody interested at staying at a resort
this individual asked if it was "gay friendly" like what tf¿ my mom was like "uh... it's human friendly"
some lgbt people act like everybody and everything is discriminatory against them

Now something on topic:
Yeah, I get it. You're gay and you got rights. Neat. You overcame a struggle. I was a bullied as kid, brought to the point of attempting suicide. Do I get a special month for bully victims? Of course not. Get off your high horse and live like a normal human being if that is why you fought for your rights. Cancer survivors better have a whole month as well as anyone else that survived a chronic health disease. In the end, gays and lesbians aren't special. They are just like everyone else who obtained rights (women, blacks, etc).Last edited: Jun 15, 2016metr0n0me, CluelessKlutz, Supreme_Overlord and 3 others like this. -
Approximately 600 LGBT have been killed in the last 15 months.
In comparison, 27 people die daily from alcohol related vehicle accidents.
Or the fact that 91 Americans are killed every day from gun violence alone
I suspect that the situation is that the world is a violent place, and people from "your group" die just as much as people from every other group in the world.
Overall my point is: Your sexuality does not matter, your gender does not matter, your race does not matter. Equality is being treated exactly the same as everyone else. The only representation that should be suitable is being represented as a human being, because that is equality.
There is 7,000,000,000 people representing you.metr0n0me, CluelessKlutz, Fangdragon1998 and 3 others like this. -
The key difference is that homosexuality isn't a mental illness. When gays are told; that there's something 'wrong' with them, that it isn't natural or 'good', that they need to change? It's pure hocum. They're fine. Events like the one's we're talking about allow both homosexuals and societies to come to terms with the idea that gays are healthy normal people just like you and me. They foster a welcoming environment for those in the closet, desensitize public opinion of gays, and increase awareness.
On the contrary, paedophilia isn't a value we want to embrace as a society. It isn't natural or 'good', and there *is* something wrong with this behaviour. Most importantly though (as you've eluded to) our reaction to them should be one of compassion. We should understand their plight, and (key difference here) not indulge their feelings or behaviour. We should look at paedophilia in a similar way we look at schizophrenia. Console them, seek professional assistance as soon as possible to try and find ways to mitigate the problem. Homosexuals don't need professional help, they need societal acceptance. Because it isn't a mental illness. The onus is on society, rather than the individual. And while we should assist those with mental illnesses, the message is clearly one of solidarity through a period of change, rather than (with homosexuality) solidarity through refusal to change.Last edited: Jun 14, 2016CluelessKlutz, Deljikho, alex77034 and 3 others like this.
