Should there be a war between North Korea and America?

We suck at attempting to seize land, but with such modern technology in our hands these days, war isn't really gonna last that long.
In fact, if Russia intervenes, well,
lets just hope the world DOESN'T explode.

In comparison to the more populous and important targets, yes, it would. Even completely destroying Hawaii (which is a fantasy scenario at best would not help North Korea much at all. This seems to be a recurring theme in the next few sentences of your post, so let's keep that in mind, I'll elaborate later.

Indeed I have, many thanks for the unnecessarily patronising and condescending post, though. My post was influenced by the sparse data we have on a specific range for North Korea right now; since there is very, very little information, it is difficult to ascertain for sure what they could do if they decided to attack today versus at a date in the future.

Regardless of that, your post is entirely nitpicking that attacking Hawaii would kill more than a few people. Sure, but North Korea isn't attacking Hawaii. One, it's counterproductive to their survival as a nation, and two, it's strategically unimportant as both a military location and a centre of population (the most attractive targets).



This is Hawaii, with population density really only significant on O'ahu, and a total population of 1.4286 million. Here's California, on the other hand, with a population of 39.25 million...

Wow! That's a lot of people compared to Hawaii, isn't it? Let's say they hit Orange County (part of the LA metro area and immediately to the right of it), which itself has over two times the population of Hawaii. Because there are more in a much dense area, North Korea would easily wipe out many, many more people than they could hope to kill with a bomb on Hawaii.

That's assuming they even attack the US, which is incredibly unlikely at best. The frightened dog barks the loudest.

You have to realize this isn't a video game, no country is actively looking nuclear war, not even North Korea. If you're still talking about this theoretical war, why would Russia be involved whatsoever? China is more likely to take sides with North Korea, due to their ally ship dating from the Korean War, which is still active today. A U.S.-Chinese war would be more devastating than a war with Russia either way, mainly due to geographic location, modernizations in China over the last 30 years, along with the largest population in the world. It would definitely hurt the Chinese economy as well, basically hanging the war around politics.

Of course it is, I'm on my 2017th turn. My technology is more advanced than anyone in the world, my happiness is great, and my city state relationships are looking good. However, I just can't anger the koreans!

 

I doubt China would take North Korea's side if they attack. China only wants North Korea to remain in power because they block South Korea from bordering them. They do not capitalism encroaching on their borders. This is why China intervened with the Korean War, the United States was encroaching. Had it not been for China being so overprotective of their own borders, I don't think North Korea would be in existence.
China has said that although they do not want any nukes being dropped in the region, they will not defend North Korea in the event they make an unprecedented attack on the US and its allies. That said, China's economy depends on the US. If China goes to war with the US, they would destroy themselves economically.
